Thank you! 1960 MGA 1600 ROADSTER I am pleased to offer this very strong 1960 MGA 1600 Roadster. It is not often that one can find these cars with such good bones and drives so nice. My son and I bought this MGA sometime back to be a father son project but since we were already involved in 2 Jaguar projects plus the full restoration of a 1911 Maxwell touring car, we decided we had enough on our plate for the time being. We looked at dozens of MG’s that we thought we could take to a show level but all that we looked at had so many rust problems. Along came this MG on Ebay. The owner was from Georgia but the car itself spent many years in California and still carries a California title. I have taken many pictures to reflect the solidness of this car and short of new paint and upholstering of the seats it would come close to being show worthy. Even the paint is presentable with only chips keeping it from being really nice. Our intentions were to bring the car back to bare metal knowing that we did not have to encounter major rust removal and or metal repair. We also learned that there are vendors on Ebay that offer interior kits at a very reasonable level. We did not have to buy bumpers or its guards because the ones on the car are very nice. We also did not need to do any serious mechanical works because it runs so well with an excellent clutch, smooth shifting transmission and great sounding engine that was registering proper oil pressure on a working gauge. In fact all the gauges work. Needs are minor. It will need a choke cable and a warning light for the turn signals. It will also need to have the tires balanced but we were going to put chrome wires on it to give it some real punch. OK let’s sum this up. In my opinion this is a superb car to make a show car out of. It will not need huge dollars to do this so one should be able to profit from such an adventure. This MG is a very decent driver quality car with no immediate needs other than the aforementioned choke cable and tire balance. Best of all I have a very conservative reserve on this car which reflects our ability to spot quality and know the market. MGA’s are the fastest appreciating post war MG’s. In fact Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach just sold a TD for $71500.00 including the buyer’s fee. As always I will do my best to answer any and all questions. One last thing the engine # is 16GA/U/6621. We have the complete top and frame. The top will need to be replaced and it will need new side curtains. Pictured are the curtain back and tonneau cover. We also have the owner’s manual.
