Vehicle Detail

1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk, 289 ci 4 barrel engine, 3 speed on the column transmission. I am told that this is the overdrive transmission that is in it. I purchased this about 1 year ago from a friend that had it for years, with my other projects I do not have time to get to this one. These are getting very hard to find, I hate to sell it, but need to put the money into another project. This is over all a very good care to restore, the body it’s self is in good shape and solid. The only issues with the body are; The driver side rear fin is bent out at the top, this can be removed and easily fixed. The right front fender looks like it was damaged at one time and somebody attempted to work it back into shape, but it still needs a little tweaking. The passenger side rocker is pushed in a little, but should be easy to fix. Both rear corner edges of the hood are bent up a small amount, this is from the hood being opened without the hinges on it. That is it for body damage. Even the quarter panels look solid! The floors are rusted out and will need replaced. On the passenger side front the floors rusted through, then through the support under the floor. The only other rust I have found is on the drip rail of the trunk , rear of the trunk wall and the inside of the trunk lid. See pictures of all of this. All of the trim looks to be here and in good shape, chrome has the expected pitting. All of the interior looks to be here or in the trunk, it even has the radio. All of the glass is there, the driver side vent window is cracked. The friend I got this from got the motor running several years ago, but from the car sitting since 1969 the carb needs lots of work. I have never tried firing it, I think it is best to tear this down and rebuild it. I have a clear Oregon title in my name.
