Vehicle Detail
This is one of the most immaculate Mercedes diesels I have ever seen in person Only 153k miles and I'm sure that the majority of those were spent stored in a garage It does not in any way look or feel like a 30 year-old car, everything works so smoothly Check the vehicle history report, this is a ONE OWNER vehicle. I got it from the family that bought it 30 years ago. As can be expected, the engine and transmission are in great shape. I just did a compression test and was amazed by the results: 440 415 440 410 420 (below 300 is cause for concern, mid 300s is average, over 400 is fantastic, 440 is INCREDIBLE) The turbo works great, it has an incredible amount of power especially at higher speeds. Drove it down from Oregon last week, cruised up the massive mountain passes at over 60 with ease. There are 19 additional photos, you can view them all on this flickr site (eBay only allows 24) I tried to show the few minor aesthetic flaws in those photos, please check them before bidding! Power windows, sunroof and seat motors all work like new, very smooth. Cruise control WORKS! A/C works but needs a recharge. Has a custom single-tank veggie oil conversion with: 20-plate Heat Exchanger (coolant-heated) Inline Electric Heater Electric Injector Line Heaters Inline Boost Pump It does not have an extra filtration unit, but if you put WVO that is extremely well filtered (centrifuged/dewatered), which is highly recommended even with an onboard filter then you shouldn't need one. If you want I can install an extra filter unit for you. If you want to run it in colder temps, this can also be adapted to a two-tank system or have additional electric heaters. Only 1k miles on this SVO conversion system. You just flip a switch on the center console and let the electric heaters warm up for a couple minutes on a cold start. Engine fires right up with no hesitation. Will run fine on regular diesel or biodiesel. All fuel lines are viton/biofuel compatible. Thousands of dollars in recent work: Partial Front-End Rebuild-- Tie Rods, Center Link, Steering Damper and Guide Rod Mount Bushings Motor Mounts & Transmission Mount Left Motor Shock Valve Adjustment Fuel system purge, new filters & lines New vacuum fittings, vacuum system overhaul Power Steering Flush & Filter Coolant Flush & Thermostat Brake Fluid Flush & Bleed Glow Plug Chamber Cleaning All New Belts Replaced all OE Fuses New Wiper Blades Air Filter Recent Oil & Filter Change New Idle Governor Adjust Pin New Lift Pump Gasket New Injection Pump Gasket Rear Tires are great, front tires are more worn. The oil pan gasket is starting to go, easy fix. The oil pan gasket is starting to go. New owner should finish the front-end rebuild and continue the work I have put into this car so that it will last another 30 years. This car is a rare chance to snap up a vehicle that, if well-maintained, could be the last car you ever buy. I have seen these with as many as 760k miles on them! If you baby this car and treat it well, it will be well worth it to rebuild the engine and transmission someday (like in 200k miles, lol). If you are far away and want any work done before driving it home, there is a good independent diesel Mercedes mechanic here who works for $50/hr. I'd be happy to work that out with you. I tried to show the few aesthetic flaws as best as I could in the photos. If you see something you're not sure about please let me know. Has a full-size spare in the trunk. Currently has Washington plates that are expired. No back fees for out-of-state registration. No smog for pre-1998 diesels. Known Issues: -Climate Control usually works but is finnicky sometimes -Washer fluid only pumps out passenger side -Needs new parking brake shoes installed (parts included) Please feel free to ask any questions about this car, I'd be happy to answer them. I work on a lot of diesel Mercedes and it has been a pleasure to work on and drive this car. I like to help people obtain the knowledge that they need to properly take care of these classics. Payment Info: I can accept cash or money orders. Can take Paypal if you pay the fees. I am also offering for sale locally and reserve the right to sell it as such. Some more general info about this car: Has the OM617 Turbodiesel engine, 128hp and lots of torque The 300SD was the only OM617 diesel made in the W126 chassis (the other models--240d, 300d, 300td and 300cd--were on the W123 chassis). This was the "Flagship" series of Mercedes Benz that was their extra high-class and high-dollar vehicles. The same chassis was used until 1991 with the 400 and 500 series models. It was made for extreme comfort and definitely feels like it. It's much roomier than a 300D, the trunk is huge. Can haul almost as much stuff as the 300TD Wagon.
