Vehicle Detail
OK Here It Is - I am selling this car for a friend of mine. I tried to buy the same car from him 5 or 6 years ago with the intention to restore it, but it is just way over my head. But the car is really awesome and very unique! When I was looking at it several years ago, I figured the restoration costs around $8000 in parts and figuring $10K just to be safe. Some time has passed, and I'm sure prices have gone up some, but once restored, the car sells for $60-80K! It's a win-win project for somebody who has the knowledge and skills and... is not me! I'd call it a winter project, but I would guess that it would take much longer than that to complete. I have a catalog here with all of the parts available, and yes, all of the parts are available! Anyway, here's what's here and what's not... It's a 1968 Porsche 911T. T meaning "Touring", this car was produced between 1965 and 1969 exclusively. I believe from the VIN number that it was the 2500th-some number to come off of the line, but I'm waiting for somebody to de-code the VIN for me. The car sat outside with the interior parts stored inside for 15 years or so. Around last year, the interior and trim parts were moved out to the garage and the garage subsequently flooded. So, all of these parts are here and mostly restorable, but need to be cleaned up some. Depending on how long it is for sale, I will continuously cleaning and working on it to make it more marketable. We removed the interior floorboards that were mostly rotted away, but the doors and body are surprisingly solid. You can slam the doors shut and they open right back up no problem. All of the glass is intact except for the windshield, but will obviously need new rubber seals. The story behind the car is that it was running great until he needed a new muffler to get it inspected. The muffler cost him $1100 brand new from the dealer, so it took him awhile before he could afford it. In the meantime, he was driving around a corvette that he had recently purchased, so he was in no hurry to fix the Porsche. So, needless to say, when he finally put the money together to get the muffler, it needed other things before it could pass inspection. The muffler is still here and has never been attached, but the box it was in has gotten wet and had to be discarded. He removed and stored indoors all of the carpet and seats that you will see in some of the pics. Of course a few of the pieces got lost or misplaced over the years. What you see is what you get. Except for the catalog of parts, I'll include that with the car. As far as what the motor is, it is a 6-cylinder with 6 carbeurators. Yeah, 6 carbs. It's an air-cooled engine and it's oil reservoir holds something like 13 quarts of oil. It's really an amazing engine. Racing engine. Looks very simple to rebuild with new gaskets. The motor was working when it was parked and is assumed still working, as well as the transmission. Other parts included are: the taillights/turn signals, both front and back bumpers (including the weights in the front bumper), both front seats, most of the back seats (one piece looks to be missing), 4 of the aluminum alloy wheels (2 missing center caps), 3 of the original stock wheels, most of the carpeting, bars that hold the ceiling in place, door panels are there but need some work, back arm rests, much much more. I believe the car was originally yellow and painted black. I've tried to show everything in the photos, but interested buyers are encouraged to come and take a look. If you drop me a note, I can get you more photos or a phone number and address to come and take a look! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! As I find more out about it and get things more cleaned up, I will post the updates on the listing here. If you are interested, don't delay! This car will go fast! Literally! **Clean Title!
