Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my International Harvester Scout II. It is a 304 V-8, 4 spd., with high and low 4WD. I got it from someone who got it in trade from the original owner. He had kept it in a shed in Ridgeway, Colorado since buying it new in '77. There are detailed maintenance log books, plus the original IH owner's manuals. It cranks up great and the choke operates fine. I have put it in 4WD HI and LO, and it goes in all ranges. The 4 speed manual transmission shifts smooth and has a good clutch. It has manual locking hubs. All gauges except the speedo work, and show a quarter tank of fuel, good charge, good oil pressure, and low temp. The 304 V-8 International motor is very strong. It has a 2 barrel Holley carb on it (original), with all vac lines and wires intact. It will roar to speed with authority, and sometimes bark the tires when you let out the clutch too soon. No issues with power at all. I would hit it with some carb spray eventually to clean it out, it does have a slight hesitation coming off the line. As you can see from the pictures, it is unmolested and has never been modified from stock form. Pretty much everything that came on it in 1977 is still there, except the back seat and grille. The top is in great shape, and all windows work. It has the original AM radio (which seems to operate, but no stations), and the interior is better than the other Scouts I have owned. The dash looks ok, with some cracks here and there. The turn signals work, but blew the fuse (water in front pass blinker?). It has the Deluxe door covers, and the solid steel rear bumper. The heater/defrost works well, and the wipers operate. Original hub caps, jack and wrench, and spare cover are all there. The interior lights work, as do the taillights and headlights. It comes with two ignition keys, a gas cap key, and one door key. Cigarette lighter socket works. Parking brake works. The horn works! The glove box has dry backing, undamaged, and the latch works. The knob for the hood release is missing, but works if pulled. The brakes stop quickly and don't pull to either side, but have a slight shudder. This year had front rotors and rear drums. I was in the process of improving it when I lost my job, so here it is. THE GOOD: New fuel filter Valve cover gaskets New shocks New Marine/Starting battery Spark plug wires Spark plugs Oil change (10w 30) New GL-1 lubricant in transfer case and transmission Differential fluid (w/ lim slip additive) Refreshed paint (brush painted to match original color) Snow tires with good tread Newer fan clutch Blue LED gauge lights Electronic compass mirror (not hooked up, the original is cracked but comes with) Updated ignition True DUAL exhaust THE BAD: Radiator repaired with JB Weld, slowly leaking. Takes about a quart of water every few days. Rear hatch supports removed, come in box. The hatch opens, but uses the wood to prop it up Oil pan leaking (not bad, never needs oil) Rust on rear quarters, in pictures. Remarkably, the body is in great shape, especially around joints and rockers where these usually rust out Needs a grille and turn signal lens Side marker lights don't work Speedometer inoperative Obviously, this truck was used on a small farm...but not abused. It drives straight and tracks true, and has power steering. It is just an old survivor Scout that hasn't been toyed with. A fresh slate for your new crawler, or just drive it as is. DELIVERY: This Scout is my daily driver, and I use it to go back and forth to town. I can drive it to you within 100 miles or help you with local delivery. Otherwise you need to pick it up in Redstone, CO. I would not hesitate to drive it across the state, but cross-country trips would probably take some love. I have a Colorado title, and it is in my name and open. It currently has tags, but they don't come with the truck. PAYMENT: This auction is NO RESERVE, and I would like a partial ($100) Paypal payment immediately after you win. The remainder can be in cash or Paypal, no checks. The partial payment is for not-serious bidders, so if they don't show I don't lose money. If you want local delivery, the full winning bid amount has to be paid beforehand. No warranty implied, but if you have trouble driving it home just call and I would come out. If you win, you lucked out. I was not going to sell this Scout for a long time. Most of them are total rebuilds or totally worn out...this one is still strong and still on the road. Thanks for bidding, and be sure to check out my other auctions. On Aug-29-11 at 16:08:17 PDT, seller added the following information:ADDITION: I have had several people ask me if the top comes off, and YES it is a full convertible. The white top comes completely off, although I have not had it off. It looks like it has been removed before. Thanks!
