Vehicle Detail
Up for sale I have this 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit LS Diesel 4 door. I bought this car as a project 3 months ago. As soon as I bought it I came across a Rabbit Pickup and have since decided to make that my project so this one needs to go. I bought the car just like it sits. The previous owner said the head was cracked and had completely pulled the engine/trans and disassembled the engine when he decided against fixing it. All of the parts to put it back together with a new head can be found in the back of the car. The previous owner also gave me a whole bag or receipts of recent parts that had been replaced including new rack and pinion, master cylinder, brake calipers, and lots of other things. This is a factory AC car and the compressor and other parts are there. The exterior of this car is in great shape for its age with no rust. The strut mounts are completely solid and clean. The pinch welds on the bottom of the car have some surface rust from jacks being placed there but other than that, the car seems to be very solid and rust free. The car was repainted at some point and the paint job isn't the best but it looks good from 10 feet. These cars are getting hard to come by especially without rust issues. The interior is fair to good for its age. The drivers seat is torn up. The dash is solid with no cracks. The rest of the seats are in decent shape and the carpet is good but both would need a good cleaning since the car has been sitting for some time. There was an aftermarket radio in the car and it was removed prior to me purchasing it so there is no radio. The odometer is only showing 85,162 miles. Not sure if this is accurate or if the odometer even works. Parts included in the sale include basically everything off the original engine including block, crank, injection pump, 4 speed manual transmission, ac compressor, all necessary brackets, lines, etc. Originally, I planned to drop the drive train out of a late model TDI into this car but it could be put back together with a new head and some work. Or it would be ideal to turn into a track car, a VR6 swap or something that no one else has done yet! I just don't have the heart to send this MK1 to the crusher because the body is so good and these cars are getting hard to find and I know it could at least be used as a great parts car for someone. Items noted to be missing/damaged: CV axles missing Passenger side view mirror missing Front grille broken Rear hatch does not stay up on its own Rear trunk carpeting has been pulled out Cylinder head Bidding starts at $1.00 with NO RESERVE! Car is purchased AS-IS, WHERE-IS. Buyer is responsible for all transportation of the car. A trailer or tow truck will be needed to haul it away! If you have less than 10 feedback, email before bidding so I know you are serious, otherwise your bid will be canceled! A $100 deposit is due by paypal within 48 hours of auction end. The balance must be paid in cash upon pickup. On Jul-14-11 at 07:30:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Per Autocheck, the mileage showing is not accurate. I have a clean NC title in hand for this car. On Jul-14-11 at 08:54:00 PDT, seller added the following information: One thing I forgot......both front doors only open from the inside right now. The outside door handles are there but need to be replaced. It is an easy fix.
