Vehicle Detail
I bought this original unrestored xr75 from the original owner about five years ago. He said his father bought it for him when he was a kid and after riding it a few times he lost interest and it was parked for many years. The bike was very well preserved as it has no rust, all rubber, chrome and associated metal parts survived many decades. It still has all the original parts including grips, levers, exhaust, fenders and even the tractor grip tires which I have included a photo of. The bike is just as I bought it right down to the zipper style blue crossbar pad and have to mention the chain has never even been adjusted! I did not buy the bike to ride it, just to enjoy going out to my garage admiring and re living my youth. The reason I am offering this xr75 is that I am building a Porsche 911 race car and this will help fund the build process. I rebuilt the carb, (added fuel filter) replaced the air filter with an OEM filter and changed the oil when I bought it. The bike runs good although from rebuilding the carb when I got it and not riding it much the pilot jet is plugged a bit by the way it runs off idle then cleans out. Another cool thing about being original is that it still has the original spark plug in it, I could not bring myself to change it. I also have the original warranty card, some paperwork, the owners manual and the original tool kit is still behind the front # plate. Cosmetics are amazing for such an old original bike. The only flaws are the dent on the pipe which I was going to have taken out but we had a hail storm a few weeks ago and the dent guy could not fit me in as they are buried doing all the cars in the area. It also has a very light dent on the top of the tank, so minor I could not capture it in a pic. This could also be removed but it is so small I doubt whoever wins this bike will ever bother with it. The rear fender probably had a leg dragged across it a few times too. I guess I should point out that I have never attempted to actually clean this bike. When I got it all I did was wipe it down and from time to time in my garage just wipe it off. You guys that restore these could take it to near new with some time, actually it really looks pretty new as it sits! I may be able to assist with delivery of the bike, please arrange this with me before end of auction and locals are welcome to come see it. Thanks
