Vehicle Detail

For auction is one: Original & unrestored, 1972 Chaparral T-172 Bullet 4 H.P. minibike or minicycle. This is an off-road minibike similar to a Rupp, Steens, or Speedway and has no title, never did. It's made for off-road, yard, trail, or camp use only. Mileage is unknown, no speedometer. It has a 4 H.P. Tecumseh pull-start engine, with a Commet torque converter, centrifugal clutch drive, no gear shifting. This little minibike is 100% original, with original engine, and is stock down to even the tires, hand grips, foot pegs, paint, cables, etc. Very nice wheels, some of chrome is pretty nice, some has light spotting to pit marks as shown. This is a very rare first year model minibike from the 1972 Chaparral line, and although they made thier 80cc & 100cc enduro minicycles into the mid-late 1970's, they only made actual pull-start minibikes during the 1972 & 1973 model years. I have seen pictures & ads of this T-172 model, but this is the only one that I've ever run across available for sale or otherwise. I also have the 1973 Chaparral T-95 model minibike available in another of my auction listings, and only mention this as these would make a nice collectible 1st & 2nd year set of the only 2 minibikes that Chaparral has ever produced. This little cycle does start easy and runs & rides very well. It's a little tempermental about setting it for a nice "hands off throttle" steady idle, but does run well. I've had it for several years and it was always idling on it's own fine including during last summer, but maybe due to some old winter fuel, or the need for some carb tuning or re-adjusting, you have to keep on the throttle slightly to keep it idling. I'm not a big fan at all of working on, or setting up the Tecumseh & Briggs carbs, but some one more experienced with them should be able to set it up to idle nicely again.
