1928 CHEVROLET CAPITAL PICK UP TRUCK DESCRIPTION: You are bidding on a 1928 Chevrolet Capital Up for sale is a reconditioned and restored 1928 Chevy Capital 1 ton Truck. This truck has been a part of our family for many years starting with my Grandfather owning it. Later in its life, it changed hands to my father, who is the current owner. Unfortunately, we never got the chance to really enjoy the truck until recently as it has been in storage for the last 20 years or so. Now we find that we have too many toys and not enough time to enjoy them all, so this one has to find a new loving home. We have taken much time and care to prepare it for the next owner so that they can jump right in and enjoy this truck with very little, if any, work needed. I have outlined all of the things that we have restored and/or reconditioned on the truck so that the new owner can enjoy it this spring and summer. It really is a great piece of American history and is an absolute blast to drive! Body This truck looks great! No, its body is not perfect, but it looks better than most 83 year olds that I know! · The panels of the body are straight. The body is painted with a lacquer finish that has excellent gloss to it. · The cab of the truck is the factory correct green. This was painted roughly 15 years ago and still looks great. It has had very little exposure to sunlight and has held up very well. · The fenders had some minor scratches in the paint from being stored and moved over the years. The proper body work has been done to fix them and they have been painted black with era correct lacquer paint. · Wood box has been repainted inside and out with matching colors to preserve the wood which was actually in really good shape. We did not have to replace ANY boards… Wheels and tires Nothing creates a presence and lasting impression on a vehicle more than a good wheel and tire combination, and this one will NOT disappoint! · The wheels are the original wooden spoke in a 20 inch diameter. They have been completely reconditioned with new paint on the spokes and the rims. The wheel assemblies were closely inspected for any sign of rust on the wheels or any sign of rotting of the wood spokes. Both looked good and nothing of concern was found. · The tires are brand new from Coker tire. They have less than 10 miles on them. The inner tubes and the protective flaps were replaced along with the tires. · The wheels and tires on the truck will last until the truck needs another restoration! Interior You will enjoy riding in style when you are driving around in this 83 year old antique! · The interior has been completely cleaned from top to bottom. · The original seat frames were professionally recovered with new smooth black vinyl and look beautiful! · New custom door panels were constructed with an embossed Chevrolet bow tie. Every part on this truck has a bow tie stamped into it, so this only seemed appropriate! Engine and Mechanical Now on to the nuts and bolts… With all joking aside, this truck has been gone through from front to back and top to bottom. Everything checks out and works as it should. If it needed fixing or replacing, it was fixed or replaced, no questions asked. This truck was built as a driver and it is ready to do just that! · The engine has good compression, even across all cylinders. · The cylinder head was cracked and leaking and was replaced with a NOS cylinder head and gasket. This head does not leak and functions perfectly. · The top end was rebuilt and reconditioned when the head was replaced. This included checking all valve guides for play, truing all valve stems, grinding and lapping the valves and seats, cleaning and lubricating all friction points. · The carburetor was professionally rebuilt and functions perfectly. There are no dead-spots, hesitation or flooding. Cold start up procedure in 30 degree weather here has been: set the throttle, pull the choke, spin the motor, cut choke to half, engine starts after 4-5 revolutions and purrs like a kitten! (Actually, it roars like a Chevy Four!) · The vacuum pump has been rebuilt and works perfectly. It supplies the engine with plenty of fuel without issue. · The starter has been rebuilt and functions well. No broken elbows or dislocated shoulders for the new owner! (Ask me about this if you don’t know what this means.) · The clutch has been completely rebuilt. This includes bead blasting the pressure plate, friction disk and flywheel. Then surfacing the pressure plate and flywheel. New springs were installed in the pressure plate, and new friction material installed on the friction disk. The clutch functions flawlessly with no chatter or slipping. · Original “Oooga” horn and cow horns were rebuilt and are now functional. · All lights have be disassembled, cleaned, tested then reassembled and are in working order including brake light. This truck runs and drives great and really needs nothing but new owners. You will not be disappointed in this truck. It truly is an absolutely fun time to drive this truck around and see peoples’ reactions to such a great piece of American automotive history. SHIPPING INFO: Buyer to pay shipping costs.
