Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice driver MGB roadster. It is registered as a 1971,and the date of manufacture is Dec. of 1970 as per the identification tag. The car is located in Vero Beach, Florida. All systems on the car work perfectly and it is very clean and straight. It just had all new rear brakes, new water pump, new rad and heater hoses, new fan belt, complete carburettor overhaul and is running great. It also has a new battery within the last 6 months. Before Florida, the car came from a nice low rust state, North Carolina, wher it was done over a few years ago with paint, interior, carpets, top, bumpers, overriders, etc, even new rubber weater strips in the door channels to keep the rain outside the door, not inside. The interior is nice and clean and the chrome is like new. All this done more than 4 years ago, and the drivers seat shows slight wear from getting in and out, but this has been a winter car usage here and used sparingly..There is a nice original black tonneau that comes with it , but may need a new zipper, if I don't get to it this week, but otherwise a beautiful original tonneau. There is an original jack, and a knock off hammer and wheel wrench in the trunk. Wire wheels with excellent Dunlop tires. The car has always been garaged. The only rust apparent is very slight bubbling on the left rear wheel well, and not an issue at this time. All the electrical system is working fine, but for the 4 way flasher, not functioning right now, a very simple fiox, and may be corrected by the time the auction ends. The floors, rockers, doors, are all clean, solid and original. No 'crack of doom' on the doors, up by the mirror, seen on so many MGB's.There is a spidering crack on the trunk lid where the previous owner tried to close the trunk lid without releasing the prop bar, see photo. I had a compression test done last week and the compression is #1-150; #2-140; #3-140 and #4-140, all very good readings. New points and condenser and very recent ignition wires. The dash top is in perfect shape, no covering on it and all gauges are working, but the odometer is stuck, so the mileage reading is not accurate.Oil cooler and rad are in order and the coil is the original one. Just this past weekend were the new hoses and British water pump. I would not rate my car as a concours show car, but rather as a very good driver, one to be used and enjoyed on a nice sunny day. The car also has a very nice, tan convertible top, with zip out rear window, and see little use as it is down most of the time. The wiring harness is in very good shape, the engine compartment is as original but has not been detailed. I leave that up to the next owner. The car could very easily be brought up to show standards, but looks good now as a 'good driver'. Time, health and my wife, are my my main motivations for selling. This is a 'no reserve' auction, so the highest bidder will own my Britsih racing green roadster. Good Luck. I will post additional photos when I get usaeof a better camera. On Jan-17-11 at 14:27:13 PST, seller added the following information: Update- I went to the Auto/Marine upholstery shop today and dropped off the factory tonneau cover (black) for a new main zipper as well as the beige/tan convertible top to have reinforced stitching put in around the zipper for the zip-out rear window. I looked through my papers and found a receipt for the rebuild of the brake master cylinder from White Post Restorations- they do a lifetime rebuild of boring the cylinder and relining it with either stainless or brass so it will never corrode. Also a complete clutch job was done less than 3,000 miles ago. I also should add that all the seals for around the doors, trunk , top bows etc are renewed.
