Vehicle Detail

schantzmd store Click here to get eBay listing at Auctiva.com Description The car is back up for sale due to the fact that a scammer hit the BIN button on the car. Therefore if you have a (0) feedback score please do not bid unless you contact me first. If you do, and if I don't hear from you, I will cancel your bid. Thanks. Up for auction is a 1973 Porsche 914 Chalon. The car comes with a rebuilt 2.0L GEX P/N# GX 10921 engine with dual ICT Webers, a 5 speed side-shift transmission, 5 lug 15" x 8" aluminum wheels, a clean title, and a current CA registration until Oct 2011. The car does run and drive, but it will need some work before it can be considered roadworthy. The Good: For the most part the fiberglass Chalon kit is in very good shape and has very little damage, although the paint is in very poor shape. Also the previous owner had started to restore the car, so some of the big ticket items are already done. The old owner had installed: 1) New brakes 2) A matched set of Porsche 911 style 15" x 8" alloy wheels 3) A new carpet kit (it's a few years old now) 4) A new Facet fuel pump 5) Rear floorboards and battery tray 6) A Rebuilt 2.0L GEX engine with dual Webers(the engine currently has <3000 miles on it) 7) Current registration and clean title (10/2011) The Bad: 1) The car needs a paint job badly (the paint is old, cracked, peeling, and is in very poor shape on the hood and trunk lid) 2) It needs a set of tires (all 4 are dry-rotted, one goes flat every 3 days, and 2 are egg shaped so they cause a vibration while driving, therefore they are not safe to drive on) 3) Both seats need to be bolted in (it's not that big of a deal, but since the rear floors were replaced you may need to drill some new holes) 4) The e-brake cables need to be hooked up (all the parts are there but the previous owner just didn't hook the cables up after installing the new brakes) 5) The car has the normal 914 1st gear downshift grind (it's not too bad but it does indicate that the 1st gear syncro has some wear) 6) The carbs need to be cleaned and/or swapped for larger Webers (the car sat for a few years so the main jets are probably partially clogged with gum and debris, this is causing the car to sometimes choke out and lose power) 7) It needs some rust repair (the rust is in the normal 914 trunk and battery areas, see pics showing the rear lip of the rear trunk and the passenger side drain plug of the front trunk) 8) It needs some electrical work (the previous owner started working on the lights and didn't get around to hooking the head lights and turn signals back up, so as of right now they don't work. It's probably something as simple as a pulled fuse, but I have not inspected it so I don't know). 9) Most of the normal 914 body seals are dry-rotted so they'll have to be replaced during the repaint. Local inspections are more than welcomed and any questions will be promptly answered. I'm selling the car for less then the cost of the engine so even if you just need some parts it's a great deal. Mike Riverside, CA (951)323-9396 The car is also up for sale locally, so I am accepting offers and reserving the right to end the auction early if a local sale is made.
