Vehicle Detail
I have owned four 1933/1934 Dodge pick up trucks over the years and this is the nicest original one I have had, and actually the best I have ever seen. The truck came out of Idaho and it appears that it was a Forestry Service truck at some point in it's lifetime. You can see the ghost image of the Forestry Service logo on the doors. The bed is in very good condition considering it is a truck. The floor of the bed is all metal which is original to a Dodge, and has some surface rust but no rust out and very few dents. It doesn't appear that it has ever hauled a lot of things, but being a truck it certainly has seen some service work. This is definately an original box on this truck. There is only one small area on this truck that has some rust and that is in the driver's side lower reveal area on the bottom edge of the cowl side, but it is basically a very solid rust out free truck. The doors are very solid without a trace of rust or rust bubbles in the lower extremities. There are no cracks in the fender edges. It is really amazing that it is in as good of a condition as it is. The truck has 15" Packard stlye wire wheels on it with Packard hubcaps. The engine is a 1941 Chrysler "Spitfire" flathead 6 cylinder with a car overdrive manual 3 speed transmission. The overdrive does work and is engaged when letting off of the gas in 3rd gear when the overdrive knob is pulled out, or by putting the clutch in while in 3rd gear and pulling out the knob. The steering wheel has an old time "squirrel" knob on it. On the steering column there is a very cool old time turn signal and a really neat old time air circulating fan. The fan, knob, and turn signal all work. The instrument cluster is the stock 1933/1934 Dodge gauge set with all gauges in operating condition. It is still a 6 volt electrical system. All lights work except for one tail light which is new but not wired in yet. The door windows roll up and down as they should. I have more pictures of the interior so if you want them you need to click on "ask a question" and send me your email address and I will forward them to you. The doors open and shut just fine and the windshield tilts out as it should to allow for further ventilation. None of the glass is cracked or broken. It has the original Dodge cloissne emblem on the front of the grille shell and is in great undented condition. The original ram radiator cap ornament is in incredible condition with the tail and ram horns still in an undamaged shape which is almost unheard of. The original "6" crank hole cover is still on the grille. These seem to almost always dissappear over the years but this one is still on the truck and in great condition. The grille is in excellent straight and undamaged condition. The truck starts, runs, drives, and stops. Unlike a 1932. 1933, 1934, 1935, or 1936 Ford truck the Dodge is very stylish and has some very beautiful reveal lines. This truck has great potential as just a driver as it is now or to make a hot rod or custom out of it. You couldn't ask for a better truck to start with.
