schantzmd store Click here to get eBay listing at Auctiva.com Description Up for auction is a 1973 Porsche 914 Chalon. The car comes with a rebuilt 2.0L GEX P/N# GX 10920TK engine with dual ICT Webers, a 5 speed side-shift transmission, 5 lug 15" x 8" aluminum wheels, a clean title, and a current CA registration until Oct 2011. The car runs and drives, but will need a few things before it can be considered roadworthy. The Good: The previous owner had purchased the car and began to restore it but never finished. He installed new brakes, a matched set of Porsche 911 style 15" x 8" alloy wheels, a new carpet kit, and a new fuel pump. He also replaced the rear floorboards and battery tray, and installed a $4.5k rebuilt 2.0L GEX engine with dual Webers (the engine currently has <3000 miles on it). The Bad: The car really needs a paint job (the paint is old, and cracked, and peeling, and is in very poor shape on the hood and trunk lid), it needs a set of tires (all 4 are dry-rotted, and 2 are egg shaped, so they cause a vibration while driving and therefore are not safe to drive on), both seats need to be bolted in (it's not that big of a deal, but since the rear floors were replaced you may need to drill some new holes), the e-brake cables need to be hooked up (all the parts are there but the previous owner just didn't hook the cables up after installing the new brakes), the car has the normal 914 1st gear downshift grind (not too bad but indicates that the 1st gear syncro is a little worn), it needs some rust repair (the rust is in the normal 914 trunk and battery areas, see pics showing the rear lip of the rear trunk and the passenger side drain plug of the front trunk), and finally it needs some electrical work (the previous owner started working on the lights and didn't get around to hooking the head lights and turn signals back up, so as of right now they don't work. It's probably something just as simple as a pulled fuse but I have not inspected it so I don't know). Local inspections are more than welcomed and any questions will be promptly answered. I'm selling the car for less then the cost of the engine and wheels so even if you just need some parts it's a great deal.
