C.Brody Investment Motorcars & The Guitar Broker (Collectable Cars & Guitars) Proudly present another fine automobile to the eBay community... 1964 Ford Cortina Mk.1 GT Saloon Serial # Z77D523095G ~ Let's get ready to go autocrossing ! ~ The Cortina is one of those cars that only a real car purist would recognize in the good 'ol US of A. Unless you grew up in Europe, you wouldn't know that Jim Clark took the 1964 Saloon Car Championship that year in a Lotus Cortina similar in many ways to the one we have the pleasure of selling. It is in excellent running order having the later model Formula Ford 1.6 Crossflow engine, Dry sump oiling system, 5-Speed Type 9 overdive transmission & a Jaz fuel cell in the trunk. She can be raced or street driven w/confidence. The name Jim Clark has a relationship to the Motorsports Race Industry like Kleenex has to the tissue Industry. For those who don't know the name...he was the most winning Race Car Driver from 1962 thru 1968 from to the very beginings of the Formula Race Car take over to the Euro Saloon Championships. In fact he won 7 of 10 Grand Prix races during the 1963 season. He died doing what he did best...drive faster than anyone else. It was during the Formula 2 race in Hockenheim in 1972. Jim also raced & won with the new Lotus Cortina Mk.1 w/a small Twin Cam Lotus motor in it for 1964 & 1965. These Cortinas were the fastest small car available beating the likes of many American V-8's at that time with it's superior handling characteristics. Originally this was White w/green spears, it's all Green Paintwork is unorthodox but quite exciting. It is not a show paint job but quite nice overall having a few small bubbles under the finish on the edge of the rear trunk lid, in all she seems pretty rust free. The Black interior has newer style Recaro Seats w/gray inserts that hold you tight in it's pocket. The speedo shows 56K miles but the title says exempt. It has a nice JVC Stereo w/CD player for your entertainment. It needs a new speedo cable & some seat belts added. Most likely a RHD car from new, this was converted for the US market quite correctly. This Mk.1 has a Formula Ford 1600 Crossflow motor (711F code) set up to rev freely. It has a smooth Ford Type Nine 5 Speed tranny & a large fuel cell in the trunk. Wearing a fresh set of 15" (Wolfrace style) alloys wrapped in Falkan 195/55/15's, she sits proud & sticks really well. Please make no mistake...this is not an original Lotus motor equipped Cortina. This is also priced to sell to a private party to either use it daily, take to car shows, or to someone w/a dream of being competitive on the race track. She runs well indeed & with a little elbow grease, could present herself quite nice at any Brit Car Event. A clean original Lotus engined Mk.1 can sell around $50K.+, this, a real bargain, one you rarely see on this side of the pond. I am representing this gorgeous Cortina.
