Vehicle Detail
NICE! 1964 CHEVELLE EL CAMINO. We bought this in 2006 from a consignment lot as an older restoration. Appears to be 1964 correct. #'s have now been checked and engine # matches, Drum Brakes, point ignition, A/C, small block V-8, 4 speed positive track. Has chrome valve covers and air cleaner. After market stereo in place of original . Everything works except clock. Runs and drives great, just like they did in 1964. Very few nicks or marks in the paint. Interior is in very good condition with slight wear to the driver's seat. A lot of chrome original to this car. There is a matching dash board cover for protection, but dash is in excellent condition underneath. When you resaerch the VIN it says it was originally black with red interier as this one is. A/C works great and is factory in the dash. Clutch is good, and the brakes are good also (or at least as good as it gets with drum brakes) This is a driver that shows very well. According to the NADA guide (www.nadaguides.com) it decribes the average value of a "20-footer" as $14,550 and high retail value (as in excellent condition overall) as $26,700. This does not take into consideration the fact that this is a 327 original engine. I would put this beautiful El Camino firmly between those 2. It is just as beautiful close up as 20 feet away. This is not show quality, but very close. 46,000 miles on the spedometer, but actual miles are unknown. I have started at the minimum price and will let the bidders decide the value. I would be unwilling to sell it for any less than that, and I feel that keeps the guesswork out of it, as in reserve auctions. The first bidder could buy it at that price. I have been a seller on Ebay since 2000, and as you can see, have an excellent seller rating, so you can feel comfortable with dealing/purchasing from me. We are so sure that you will be glad you bid, if you are the winning bidder and find that this vehicle does not meet your expectations as described here, we are willing to negate the sale. Selling with NO RESERVE.... EXTRA INFO: got these #'s from the tag next the wiper on the inside of the firewall. It read: O3E STYLE 64 5680 Body EP Trim 726 Paint 900K ACC.BE 2LK 3C Apparently. this means the car was built the 5th week of March 1964. That month Chevy offered to install the 250 horsepower 327 C.I. engine into the 1964 Chevelle line. We now know it is the original engine the numbers and are under the A/C compresser. The number of cars built with this engine are very rare, and only a few were produced. and the value stated by the NADA guide does not consider this. It appears to be very 1964 correct with a canister oil filter, point type ignition and has all the trinkets that came original like the glass bottle for windsheild cleaner and drum brakes, with the poosible exception of chrome valve covers that say "327 Turbo-Fire". UPDATE: Engine #'s are F0331JQ casting #'s 3782870. "F" means Flint, Mich, 03 means March, 31st day, "JQ" 1964 327 manual trans 250 Horsepower Chevelle 4 barrel. Casting # means '62-'67 327, 250-375 horse You will notice that some pics show the duals coming out behind the rear tire and some show hem coming out of the tail. This is because when we 1st got the car they came out behind the bumper, so those are earlier pics,. The duals that are on it now exit behind the tires. They are true duals and were put on in the last year. There is no rust or signs of rust that I have been able to find. There are a few spots with small bubbles under the paint, but no signs of rust. No bubbles at windsheild corners or door bottoms. The bed has a spray-on bed liner, in very nice condition. The transmission is quiet, shifts fine and smooth and has good syncros. Hard to explain how meticulis this restoration is. The paint alone is amazing. I have been very careful with it, and feel as if it is a piece of history and a work of art...
