1966 TRIUMPH 650 BONNEVILLE Matching Numbers The Triumph Bonneville has become an icon of British motoring and over the years has grown into a highly collectible motorcycle. With twin carbs, 650cc and 46 horsepower on tap, the Bonneville was a fast bike that also handled well. The styling was the standard in the 1960s and even the newer Triumphs of today have replicated this timeless design. This matching numbers Bonneville was recently pulled out of long term storage where it had been sitting in a warehouse since 1993. These are very difficult to find in this condition. It has a really cool patina to the period flamed tank, custom seat upholstery and "cocktail shaker" exhaust. The oil tank and side covers where chromed. The frame appears to be in original paint and it is worn and chipped throughout. The wiring appears to be in excellent original condition, and most of the original wire clamps are still in place. The chrome on the original Dunlop rims is excellent, as is the chrome on the headlight shell. The rest of the chrome is shiny but has lots of freckling, fog and rust spots as can be seen in the photos. There is a dent in the tank with some paint chips and cracks, however the tank paint is very shiny and matches the whole patina perfectly. The seat vinyl is a well made custom cover. It has a couple of tears, is very brittle and may need some conditioning. The tires are old and should be replaced before riding. The engine turns freely and has compression but no attempt has been made to start it. It shifts through the gears. The bike is complete with both stands and is missing nothing. The front stainless fender is excellent. There is a crack repair in the rear stainless fender, just below the license plate as shown in the photo. The license plate is cracked and hides most of the repair. The license plate is the original black and yellow one issued to the bike in 1966 and is on the clear California title in my name. It is currently on a non-op (no back fees for California buyers) This motorcycle is not advertised anywhere else and this auction is the exclusive venue to purchase it.
