Vehicle Detail
We are selling our 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis. It is in excellent condition. That isn't a typo on the mileage. It only has 11,426 miles. We bought it 2 years ago with 9.985 miles and we hardly drive it.I love the car, but obviously we don't need it, since we have driven less than 1500 miles in 2 years. The photos of the outside of the car are from a few months ago. I was going to sell it then, but changed my mind. The inside pictures were taken last week. It looks great, but it does need to be vacuumed, it has just been too cold outside right now.I purchased the car from an estate in 2014. It belonged to a little old lady in Olney, IL, that passed away about 10 years ago. I was told that they did get the car out of the garage, and drive it around the block a few times in the last 10 years. When we bought it, the license plates on it were from 2000, and it had a handicap placard, that you hang from the mirror, that expired in June 1998. Obviously, she didn't drive it very much between 1992 and 2000 either, so it has spent most of it's life in the garage. She had covers over the seats, and in the truck, and the old Cadillac floor mats that are in there now were covering the stock floor mats.It has no rust, even looks great underneath. It runs and drives perfect. When I got the car, I removed the gas tank, cleaned it out, put in a new fuel pump, new fuel filter, and a new battery, and it started right up. We have also put new tires on it, from Tirerack, about 1000 miles ago. One of the center caps for the wheels is a replacement, when I bought the tires I had Walmart mount and balance them, and lost a center cap somewhere on the way home. I touched up a paint chip on the drivers door, and three small ones on the passenger door. There are pictures of them, and i will included the touch up paint. I would say that the one on the drivers door was about 3mm in diameter, and close to the key hole. There are three small chips, all together, on the passenger door that are about 1mm and less, and below the mirror. In the picture of the three small ones, for a size reference, in the top of the picture is the pin stripe on the passenger side. The horn doesn't work, and the trip meter doesn't work, but the odometer does. Everything else on the car works great. Since we have owned the car, we did have the drivers window stop working. There are 3 small plastic pieces, about the size of a marshmallow, that transfer power from the motor to the gears. The original ones are hollow, and i guess they can get brittle over time. I replaced those 3 plastic pieces, and it works great now. i also have a spare set, in case it happens to another window in the future. I also have an extra fuel pump for it. The first one I bought was the pump only, and after installing it the fuel gauge didn't work, so I replaced the whole fuel pump, and the assembly that includes the gauge, with a new one. I love to travel in this car. It rides great, it's comfortable, and gets 25 mpg on the highway. For a full size, full frame vehicle that's great. I don't think they even make any full frame cars any more. It doesn't have abs or traction control, or hardly any of the other electronic things on new cars that often go bad. It has one air bag in the steering wheel. You know these cars are reliable and tough, just look at all of the police cars and taxis that used the Crown Vic, and drove them for 200,000 to 300,000 miles, or more. If you are looking at this listing, then you probably already know that. You just can't get cars like this anymore. Here is a list of the cars options and features:White exterior, with gray cloth interiorPower windowsPower locksKeyless entry keypad on drivers door - with the code on a sticker inside the truckPower mirrorsPower front seatsDriver's airbagam/fm cassettePower antennaCruise controlAlloy wheels215/70R-15 GENERAL ALTIMAX RT43 tires, with only about 1000 miles on them - with receiptTheft resistant lug nuts, with the lug nut adapter in the glove box - I think there's one special lug nut on each wheel.New Duralast Gold battery from Autozone for $130 - with receipt
