Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a nicely maintained 1981 Honda CB900F Super Sport with only 20k miles and in great running condition. This original survivor was stored for 20 years; hence the low mileage. Early Japanese superbikes in good condition are becoming increasingly rare and sought after; here’s a chance to own a nice example from that era which is reliable, fun to ride and draws a crowd whenever it is parked. If you are not familiar with the CB900F, two excellent references are Classic Honda Motorcycles Identification Guide to the Collectible Models 1958-1990 by Bill Silver, and Enthusiasts Guide Honda Motorcycles 1959-1985 by Doug Mitchel. This particular Super Sport is original with the exception of foam handgrips, Battery Tender and Powerlet wiring leads and a sleek color-matched Hondaline fairing which enhances the bike’s appearance and provides outstanding wind protection. It also has the extremely rare factory rearset footpegs and cafe bars which complement its sporting nature nicely. Since being brought out of storage two years ago, the following work has been accomplished on this bike: • New tires • New spark plugs • New battery • Oil and filter change • Valves adjusted • Front and rear brake calipers and master cylinders rebuilt • Carburetors rebuilt and synchronized • Tank cleaned and new petcock, fuel line and filter installed • New O-ring chain • Fork seals replaced • Tank, fender, seat cowl and side panels professionally re-striped and repainted in original factory colors Pictures tell the story; this bike is in very good condition for its age. All of the switches, lights and gauges work as they should and the bike is extremely smooth to ride with no flat spots in the powerband. Once warmed up, it starts almost instantly with a touch of the starter button and shifts easily when underway. The original mufflers, usually a weak point on older Hondas and expensive to replace, have good chrome with no rust. While there are some cosmetic imperfections apparent upon close visual inspection, these are not unexpected on an early 1980’s vehicle having over twenty thousand miles of use. I have attempted to describe this motorcycle with a reasonable degree of accuracy, but please recognize that it is nearly thirty-five years old and I cannot state with certainty that there are no issues which might arise subsequent to its sale. Although I am an experienced motorcycle rider, I am not a mechanic and make no claims with regard to the bike’s mechanical integrity except as stated in the listing. In addition, the photographs may not depict the cosmetic appearance of the bike the same as when viewed in person. For these reasons, the bike is offered to a prospective buyer ‘as is,’ and ‘as described.’It is the responsibility of the bidder to obtain information in addition to my description to determine this bike’s actual condition and/or value. If viewing in person in the Seattle area is not possible, please contact me through eBay asking questions about any items that you feel need more description before bidding. I will do my best to provide the potential bidder with all the information I have, or re-examine the bike if more description is needed. I have sold over sixty motorcycle-related items on eBay, including several bikes; please see my feedback rating and trust that I will make every attempt to be as accurate and honest as possible. The Washington State title is free and clear. Buyer must pay a non-refundable $500.00 deposit within 48 hours of close, preferably with PayPal. The balance is due within seven days via certified funds, subject to clearing my bank before release of title. If local pick-up of the bike is not possible, shipping costs and arrangements will be the responsibility of the buyer. Two examples of motorcycle shippers with whom I have had good experience are JC Motors (www.motorcycleshippers.com) and Federal Motorcycle Transport (www.funtransport.com). If shipping is arranged, I’ll make every reasonable effort to be available at the time of pick up. I am an established eBay user with perfect feedback. It is my policy not to reveal my reserve price prior to the end of the auction nor end a listing early once bids have been received. I ask that potential bidders respect my wishes in this regard. Early Japanese superbikes are some of the fastest-appreciating collectible motorcycles and enjoy the added benefit of outstanding reliability. Don't let an opportunity to own this vintage classic slip away. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding! Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
