Vehicle Detail

This early 5 speed non-sunroof 928 example is located in Greenville, SC & has a clear SC title in my name. It has been a great daily driver for about a year while sorting out some issues along the way. I have receipts for all work done / parts and most of it was done at Pro-Tech of Greenville, our vintage Porsche specialist. The clutch plates, pressure plate re-surfaced & throw out bearing & housing was recently replaced along with the fuel accumulator, fuel pump, air filter, fuel filter, battery, several relays, tires, wheel bearings, 4 wheel alignment, All belts & radiator hoses, Lloyds floor mats, power seat switches, factory ignition switch & NOS muffler (retails for $1500 from Porsche). The car looks great from far but from up close does show some sun fade / wear in the paint. There is no rust on the body & all exterior lights work properly. All glass is original and both front & rear wipers are new OEM Bosch & work as well. The Cork interior is very nice in this 928 when so many others you see appear to have been neglected. The steering wheel needs re-stitched (leather is fine to re-use) & headliner has a bit of sag in the back. The radio is an I-pod type & a very nice unit but the original speakers are due for replacement. The brand new Lloyds mats are in perfect condition & both interior dome lights work as they should when the doors open. The driver’s seat is power & the passenger is manual. The catalitic converter I am told is starting to rattle but I have not heard anything yet. Assume it will need replaced in the near future. This 928 has been very reliable. It starts every time weather it has been sitting or just driven. It goes down the road straight at any speed, idles nice & accelerates like only a 928 can. It is quick & quiet. It does not smoke or make noises or ticks. It has its original 4.5L engine. The manual gearbox on the early cars was not a strong point. This one shifts well with 2 small exceptions. 1) Higher RPMS make going in & out of 3rd gear very easy but in lower RPMs it can be stiff though it never grinds in any gear. 2) The clutch pedal can sometimes click on its way out only in first gear. This is a result of some new & some old clutch parts being used during the rebuild & it seems to have gotten better the more the car gets driven. You may not even notice either of these 2 issues but but no matter how small they are present. Neither of these 2 issues detract from the enjoyment of driving the car & otherwise shifting & clutching is very smooth with little effort. The clutch is super light! The speedometer works intermittently & shows about 121,000. The car has air conditioning but It is not working. Both electric windows work fine, both doors open from in & outside the car & both locks work. The very early 928s & the very late ones seem to be strong values while they are still relatively inexpensive compared to its air cooled big brother (911), yet equally if not more fun to drive. I am only selling to help fund a new business venture. Private inspection is welcomed & encouraged before the auctions end. The time to inspect or ask questions is before the auctions is over. The car is as-is where is with no warranty. It is 36 years old & will need ongoing maintenance & love. Much of the wear on the car is consistent with a pampered life but some is consistent with a normal 36 year old car. The pictures give an important indication of the cars condition so please look at them closely. A $1000 deposit is due via Paypal within 24 hours of the auctions close. Remaining payment can be made via cash in person, wire transfer or Paypal. Please ask questions as I am happy to answer them.
