Vehicle Detail
This is a neat car that my brother has owned since 1991. He passed away recently and I am selling this car for my niece and nephew. I drove it this past weekend and it starts right up, sounds great, runs great , stops great, and is a great old car. This car was driven one or two times a month for the last several years but that was it. I am pretty sure that my brother got it from the original owner. Even though this car has always been garaged there are a few areas where it is starting to get some surface rust. It also has a few scratches, scrapes and minor dings as I have tried to show in the pictures. The last time I drove it the power steering pump squeeked and this time it did not so I assume my brother replaced it. The hoses and belts also looks very recent but I can't tell you when they were put in. The car is not mint by any means, but it does look pretty darn good just the way it sits, and of course it can only be original once . It would be a very nice car to drive around just the way it sits or it would be a candidate for a pretty easy restoration if you want to get it back to new condition. This car is being sold with NO RESERVE and it must be picked up by November 24th , because that is when the house that it is parked in sells. This has cleared probate so it has a clear title and is ready to go. There are fender skirts in the trunk and my brother put some blankets on the seats. As you can see in the picture where i I lifted the blanket, the seats are pretty worn, as are the armrests , especially the driver's side armrest. Glass is all good , all electrical items work as they should, and everything else seems fine. This is really about all I can tell you about it because it was not my car. I think it has a 289 and I know it is a V-8 but not sure beyond that. Has power steering, good tires, and I think it is 100% original. I went to the Hagerty website to get a value on this car and the exact 4 door version with a 289 in condition 4 (fair) is supposed to be worth $11,000.00 - $13,000.00 . It is much nicer than fair , but since my niece and nephew don't want it, I live 550 miles from where the car is, and they will be losing the garage it is stored in before Thanksgiving, we need to sell it now for whatever amount it bids up to. By the way, NO we will not take less than the opening bid and we will not end it early for an offer. I have an offer from a local dealer in the Chicago area but I would rather put it up for bid in the hopes that it will generate somewhere close to the actual market value for the kids. We MIGHT be able to set up a test drive or personal inspection if you are interested but my niece and nephew both live over 50 miles from where the car is and they both work so I am not sure. Contact me if you want to look at it in person and I will check. The car is in Buffalo Grove, Il. now but is a nice enough driver that you could probably drive it anywhere if you bought it. Thanks for looking. On Oct-30-14 at 07:01:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Hey, we just found all the paperwork for this car. It turns out my brother bought this car in 1984 , not 1991 . He was the third owner. We even found the original bill and paperwork from this car from when it was sold new on 9/9/1959 . We even have the old style original title and other neat stuff among the papers we found. We will of course include all this cool stuff with the car. Also, for the person who asked, YES we are going to throw in the 1959 Chevy poster that was in the back seat, the little plastic scale model, plus anything else related to the car that we find in the garage when the winning bidder picks the car up. I am going to go to Chicago on Monday the 3rd and everything I find in the house that is related to the car, or related to old Chevy's at all, I am going to throw in the trunk. I am really hoping that we can find a new owner who will appreciate this car as much as my brother did. On Nov-04-14 at 07:12:29 PST, seller added the following information: We found the original receipt from the sale of the car and will include it as part of the sale. The car was purchased in Wyoming and it appears my brother bought it from the son of the original owner so he was the 3rd owner. I also found a shop manual, an original full color dealer brochure for the car, and a bunch of misc. parts for the car that I have put in the back seat and which will be included with the car. We had someone drive it Monday and make a nice offer on it but I told him we will not be ending it early and he had to bid on it. This car will sell for whatever it bids up to and the there was no reserve so whatever it sells for is the final price. When I posted this update there was one day left to bid. Good Luck.
