Vehicle Detail
1977 Dodge Tradesman 200 Custom cargo van in original, unrestored condition. 360 V8, Automatic Trans with power steering and power brakes. Dual exhaust that sounds nice. 86,000 original miles as per previous owner but I have no documentation to support mileage. Mechanical history is unknown. It does start, run and drive very good. It does let out a small puff of smoke when first started but it does not smoke when warm or driving. Was told it has been doing that for years. The engine has normal light oily residues but does not leak anything onto the ground. All of the accessories work except for the cruise control, radio and original horn button. An aftermarket horn has been fitted under the hood and it works via a button on the dash. Works well and is loud. There is an aftermarket radio in place and it does not work because the speakers have been removed. Lights and turn signals work. The speedometer and instrument gauges all work. The column shifter works as it should but it is a little sloppy. There is an aftermarket stewart warner voltmeter mounted on the dash. It does work, but could easily be removed. Body is original and very straight. Paint is older and looks to be a high quality job with no noticeable overspray. It looks like the original paint and it may very well be the original paint but I can't be certain if it is. It does have the normal scratches, dings, spots of touch up paint that would be found on an unrestored 35 year old car. All of the glass is in good shape with no cracks. It does have a small rust bubble on the lower side cargo door that is pictured. It could be easily fixed. Also at the top of both A pillars there is a small patch of touch up paint that blends ok but is noticeable when examined closely. The roof vent was recently replaced by the previous owner and looks to be done well. The both front doors sag slightly. They still open and close properly but could use new hinges or a hinge pin overhaul. The interior drivers door handle has a broken recoil spring. Its still works properly but it does not "snap" back into position like it should. One key works for ignition and all of the doors. I have a quart of touch up paint from the previous owner that goes with van. Interior was recently insulated and repaneled by the previous owner and looks decent. Not a high end professional job but decent for a utility van. I would consider the interior clean and usable for a vintage van. Front seats were replaced by the previous owner with later model dodge van seats. They are the same size as the original and are in decent shape with no tears. However, they were originally grey but he painted them black with vinyl spray paint. They look good but if examined closely there are spots where the original grey can be seen. The previous owner also removed the original front floor mats and replaced them with those from a later model dodge van. It does not fit perfectly but it gets the job done. Engine cover is solid but it has had some very small holes drilled into it in the past. Those small holes have been filled with small rivets and the cover repainted. Its noticeable if you look closely. Dash pad is clean and crack free. The cargo bed floor under the mat is like new with no rust. 15" steel 8 spoke chrome wheels looks period correct. They have some very minor surface rust that could be removed with steel wool or polish. Tires are older and they should be replaced. They could get you by for a while longer but not without increased risk. It has a heavy duty receiver hitch under the rear bumper and a brake controller mounted under the dash. This van is in good running and driving condition with current registration. I have only driven it about 100 miles total and it drives nice. It does not have any obvious signs of an impending breakdown that would prevent it from being driven home. However, it is a 35 year old van that is original with an unknown mechanical history. If you like the stresses and risks associated with driving an unfamiliar old van on the interstate then it is possible that this van might just make it. If you don't, please trailer it. I am willing to work with the buyer and store the van here for up to a month if that will help you with the shipping/pickup. I will only accept cash in hand at pickup or a certified cashiers check mailed in advance as to allow time for payment to clear. I WILL NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL! The van and title will not be released until the funds are in my possession. Once again, NO PAYPAL Has a clear Oregon title in my name and current registration until 2015. This van is being sold as-is, where-is with no warranty written, expressed or implied. Buyer to perform any due diligence before bidding The Van is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Good Luck!
