Vehicle Detail

I bought this car three years ago and to build the ultimate sleeper. A car that can be tracked and driven anywhere but be under the radar. This Biscayne has had just about everything replaced that was removed during the restoration. The car has been driven about 1500 miles since the drivetrain and paint were completed. The suspension was all replaced with Moog parts along with a disc brake front conversion kit installed. A new booster and master cylinder was installed along with rebuilding the rear brakes and rear end seals. The 12-bolt rear end features a 4.10 Richmond posi with Moser axles. The transmission is a purpose built TH400 with a shift kit and 3,000rpm stall converter. The engine is where the bulk of the attention was paid. The engine started as a '73 LS3 454 and now features 11.25:1 LS6 pistons, an NOS LS6 crank and steel rods. The parts were balanced and sit under 049 heads that have been ported and polished with larger valves and roller cam springs. The cam is a custom ground roller cam that is 238/248 duration, 6.78 lift and a 108 degree lobe separation. This makes the engine sound great and yet still runs on pump gas without a problem. The roller rockers are comp cam magnums with Lunati stud girdles. This all stays under stock stamped valve covers with the help of some valve cover spacers. The intake is an Edlebrock air gap and a Holley 950HP ultra sits on top with the stock style air cleaner. The headers are Hooker headers with a full 3" flowmaster exhaust. When the engine was built I replaced every component of it regardless of condition so the car was reliable. The alternator, starter and water pump were all replaced along with the radiator, heater core and fan motor. The wiring was replaced totally for the engine bay and the rear of the car so all the lights run on brand new wiring. The body was stripped and taken to bare metal and repainted the factory Aztec Bronze color. The taillight lenses, window felts and the door gaskets (not installed yet) were all swapped out. The dash was removed and cleaned and all the light bulbs replaced. The dash is still a little dim so the wiring may need future work. The gas gauge also reads correctly but zeros out on 1/2 tank, not empty. The turn signal cam and wiring was swapped out in the column as well. The whole interior needs to be gone through yet. There is no carpet or headliner installed. The door panels are there but are ratty. I built this car without worrying about a budget because I figured this would be my last muscle car but that was before I bought a Viper and now priorities have changed. The car was driven three hours each way last year for the rod run at long beach and has been in many car cruises and has never once over heated or skipped a beat. I took it to the drag strip last month and without any dyno tuning it ran the best of 12.4. With the tuning and a less restrictive air cleaner when racing, it should be an 11 second car. Brand new steel wheels were just installed with 10" racing slicks that will go with the car. I have a lot of money invested but I am blowing it out right now. A video can be sent to you showing the car. The sleeper theme followed into the interior. The car is a radio delete car and so I made the radio panel hinge up to reveal the oil pressure, temp gauge, line lock and line lock light. There is no tach factory or aftermarket but an adjustable shift light is installed under the dash speaker hole that will shine on the windshield for a "heads-up" display. The windshield wiper and headlight switch were changed along with the window cranks and exterior door handles. Things it still needs is carpet, headliner, seat covers, dash pad and door panels. There are some chips and scratches in a few places and there is some scratching on the rear window. Even though I have about $1300 in the brakes, they still are not great. It may be that there isn't much vacuum but they just feel like manual brakes. The rear windows don't grab very well and just need to be adjusted correctly but they still go up and down with help. A few leaks here and there since I don't think the valve cover spacers seal that well. This is a great car that just needs to be finished and enjoyed. I would have no problem racing it this weekend and then driving it to the rod run next month 3 hours away since that was the plan before the Viper showed up. The title has an 8 in the VIN where it should have been a 6 but the DMV said it was no big deal when I called as I was buying the car and then again when I went and transferred the title. Part trade possible for a nicer daily driver car that get some decent gas mileage. On Aug-07-14 at 14:31:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I thought about a few other things. The battery is new along with the cables. The fuel line has been completely replaced with larger aluminum line connected to a larger "in tank" tube and pickup. The fuel pump was also replaced with a larger unit. All this work has been done in the last 1500 miles of the car. It was finally put on the road in April of last year, at that time everything was new or rebuilt as described here except the rear end which was already done when I bought the car. The only other thing I can think of is that the rear seat bottom is out of a 4-door and will need to be replaced with the correct Biscayne/Bel-Air seat bottom before you finish the interior. I built this car as if I was going to keep it for ever, which was the plan before the Viper came along. Things like $100 header bolts that aren't supposed to back out is just one item that may be overkill on must cars but I didn't want to have problems with anything down the road. It is always the little things that leave you along side the road so I replaced all those parts with new parts so I didn't have that problem.
