Vehicle Detail
PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION TO UNDERSTAND THIS VEHICLE COMPLETELY, BEFORE BIDDING OR OFFERING. OFFERS CONSIDERED. Highest offer gets called back first, and so on, til it's sold. TO END SUSPICION, I am only selling this machine because I have too many custom built toys for one guy. Had this one the longest, so someone else can enjoy it. Now, here's the details. Rides like a new truck. Frame alteration did nothing to the ride. Over ten years ago I bought a stripped 59 Elcamino with no interior, but fairly complete otherwise. Sold the old fashioned motor/trans (not sure if they were original), bought a 1982 Chevy 2WD pickup with a tattered body but good frame. It was still inspected and running great at the time. Took the entire body off that truck, and removed the suspension and engine crossmember from the Elcamino, slid the 82 truck frame, motor, and trans under the El, welded them together, where they didn't meet (because of the X frame), made braces to attach them, took it to an enhanced inspection station, and it passed and was issued a reconstructed title, for that reason only. NOT because of any accidents or damage. Been driving and getting it inspected every year since. The title itself no longer states "1959 Chevrolet", it just has "RECONSTRUCTED" stamped numerous times on the top, and the new VIN tag that was issued with it is now riveted on the firewall, matching the title to the vehicle. The original VIN tag is still in the door jamb, but probably taken out of the system. It is currently garaged and insured by Grundy Worldwide as a custom 59 Elcamino with $18,000 full coverage (including towing) for about $250 a year. The body is all original, from what I can tell, and is starting to get a few rust bubbles here and there. Other than that, decent amateur paint job. The "teeth" grille is in now, but I have the original that goes with it. If you don't like the hood scoop, I have the piece I cut out under the scoop, so a bodyman can either weld or rivet it back in and blend it. The motor is from a 1973 Nova 350 4 barrel with Edelbrock 600 carb, manual choke, and HEI distributor. The transmission is a mid 70's Turbo 350 with non lockup converter, shift kit, and works great. The rear is from a 1968 Nova and is a positraction unit. The entire functional frame is the 1982 frame. Front suspension was completely rebuilt and aligned about two years ago. The interior was also amateur redone. Functional and cool. Currently has an altered bench seat in it from a late 80's pickup, with no rips or damage, just needs a cover, as it doesn't match. It's blue. Dash has original speedometer. fuel, and temp gauges in it that all work fine. Aftermarket battery and oil pressure gauges mounted in the other two pods in the dash, and a tachometer in the Bud can on the hood scoop. In the back, I cut out the wheel humps in the bed, in the interior, the floor is now flattened (no hump) as none are needed when it sits up higher. Bumpers 30 inches off the ground. Legal. The custom made bed cover is one piece fiberglass, and opens with truck hood hinges I welded in to make it open like a hood. Tailgate still opens and closes. Gas tank is from the 1982 donor truck. Inspected til 09/14. Rims are Cragar S/S 15X10 rears and 15X8 fronts. Rear tires new, fronts are good used. Reverse lights are under the rear bumper. Shifter is from an 80's Camaro. Any questions,. ask. I have almost enough extra parts to practically build another 59 Elcamino. Available to the new buyer for an extra fee. I'm not allowed to say the price, Ebay gets mad...If you don't want them with the El, I'll part them out after it's sold, and not before then. WANT BETTER PICTURES? Send e address to send them to and I'll send them there.
