Vehicle Detail
lizattic Store 1965 Volkwagon Van Called the Type 2 or split window 13 window Microbus with the 6 volt system The current owner bought it in 1980's The original engine was locked down (which is included in this auction) bought a replacement engine that was running when stored drove it locally and put about 5000 miles on in 2 years The odometer shows 26,434 new engine ran hot was smoking barely made it home under low power could be a problem with the or a combination of "head gasket, valves or push rods" It has been sitting since 1990 in his yard He has a clear title!!! The good: Frame is straight & solid! there is air in all of the tires, has all of it's windows "none broken", back floor is solid, back bench seat is in good condition, both front seats in fair condition. Left driver side panel is solid has some rust on top, right side panel is solid, the roof top is rusted but solid. Since it was driven into the yard I would say the transmission is good. He says he took nothing off the vehicle, so it has all of it's parts including both the front & back bumpers and a driver side mirror. There is interior carpet on floor behind cab on the side & rear deck, comes with it's original keys, jack & a spare wheel & tire "no air" The bad: The driver side door is frozen, the back lift window is frozen, missing the middle bench seat, I have 2 engines 1 I know will not work (locked down, lost oil pressure) the other will need repairs before running "was not locked down at that time", 1 dents left rear corner on the bottom. There's carpet on the interior sides that's loose, the interior roof is fair some areas pulling away. Rusted through spots are, left side rear corner, the left side bottom, the front panel behind bumper, the cab floor and passenger side door well. This is a blast from the past, there's is nothing like a Volkwagen Microbus, even after a half of a century crusing the American country. Thanks to small production numbers and high demand, the classic "splitties" are one of the hottest collector vehicles for the car hobbiest, and prices are going through the roof.
