!949 Plymouth special deluxe convertible ~ level 3 restoration ~ rare ~ only 84 of these cars registered in the country only. Engine 87/95-hhp flathead six. Specifications: length 196.8" ~ sheelbasse 117.0 ~ weight 3,166. Price in 1949 $10007-$2068. My family has owned this car since the early 1960's and we are the second owners. Car original came from the manufacturing plant in Long Beach, CA. Car has the original engine was "redone" in the early 1960s and has been maintained to run ~ convertible hydraulic top works ~ 6-volt battery system. Car comes with the original jack & tire cover along with a lot of extra parts in the original mor-par packaging including back-up glass light covers, brake light covers, extra outer chrome pieces, door knobs and the original gear shift knob (Plymouth boat). There is rust under the car carriage (bad spots in the floor boards were redone when the car was restored in 1989) and the doors do not close solidly. I have an after-market manual and the original dupont paint chips. This was always a 3rd car in our family and was never used as a normal transportation car. About the front grill: This car is from the 2nd series in the spring of 1949 reflecting restyled postwar carryovers that changed in the spring of 1949.
