Hello, and welcome. Featured here today is a nice example of a highly desirable and hard-to-find 1985 VOLKSWAGEN RABBIT CABRIOLET which has been partially restored to be a good dependable daily driver. This is the collectible Wolfsburg Edition model, and is the veritable "Barn Find", it is so nice and original considering its age! This vehicle has undergone a large amount of repairs and upgrades performed by us within the last 1000 miles, which are as follows: NEW Timing Belt/Tensioner. NEW Engine Seals. NEW engine mounts. NEW Fuel, Air, and Oil Filters. NEW Clutch Assembly. NEW Belts all around. NEW Coolant Hoses. NEW Shift Linkage Bushings. NEW Heavy-Duty Radiator. NEW Coolant Reservoir. NEW Water Pump assembly. NEW Thermostat. NEW Radiator Fan Switch. NEW Battery. NEW Front Wheel Bearings. NEW Front Struts. NEW Front Upper Strut Mounts and Bearings. NEW Front/Rear Brakes. NEW Tires. NEW Convertible Top. ALL Fluids drained out, flushed and replaced, including coolant, engine oil, gear oil, windshield washer fluid, hydraulic fluid. NEW Bulbs/fuses as needed. ****NOTE**** MOST of the parts used in this partial restoration are genuine VW/Audi items, many of them are OEM, NOS. So, most of you know that genuine parts do NOT come cheap. We use only the best stuff out there, and it all comes at a price! There are no generic Pep Boys/Kragen parts used with the exception of maybe a nut or bolt or something extremely minor. So, if you want something nice, this is it!This is an un-molested, solid Nevada vehicle, so has real NO rust issues. The body is fairly nice and straight, with the normal tiny little dings and scratches in accordance with its age, the front corner of the left fender does have a small ding as can be seen in the pics. The paint is still in great shape, and is quite glossy, it is mostly all original with the exception of a couple of small areas which might have been touched up at some point, and a small area where the clear coat is peeling. The doors shut nice and tight, the dashboard is nice and clean, and so is the carpeting. The seats and door panels are in good shape. It appears that the previous owner had some kind of seat covers on the seats at some point, and put little dabs of contact cement to keep the covers from sliding off. These dabs of glue need to be removed with some kind of solvent. The NEW Convertible Top goes up and down smoothly. All lights, instruments and horn work well. This Cabriolet is equipped w/factory AC, however, we cannot attest to its condition since we are NOT offering this vehicle with our normal full level of restoration. It seems to be all there, though. This Cabriolet steers straight, the 5-speed manual overdrive transmission shifts smoothly, accelerates and stops well, and goes over bumps nice and quiet. Overall, this is a very nice vehicle, and, with proper maintenance and regular oil changes should last forever. These VW/Audi 1.8 Liter engines are pretty much bullet-proof, and are famous for longevity, reliability, and practicality, and at barely 96K miles on the chassis this one has a lot of life left in it. Almost everything on this vehicle which in our opinion needed repair or replacement has been discarded and replaced with NEW OEM parts. That includes all the items listed above and maybe a few more items which we might have over-looked. Overall, this is truly a very nice car for its age and seems to have aged very gracefully and gently. This Cabriolet represents excellent value for your money. It looks good and runs great. This CABRIOLET is ready to drive anywhere. ****NOTE**** FOLKS, IT’S TRUE THERE ARE PLENTY OF SUCH VEHICLES OUT THERE IN THE $200-$1000 RANGE. THIS DOES NOT, HOWEVER, HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THEM. SO, IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A CHEAP BEATER TO DRIVE TO WORK THEN THIS CABRIOLET MOST DEFINITELY IS NOT IT. THIS IS WAY TOO NICE AND HAS WAY TOO MANY HOURS OF WORK PUT INTO IT, WHICH WE CAN NEVER BE COMPENSATED FOR, AND TONS OF NEW PARTS INSTALLED AS LISTED ABOVE (YOU DO THE MATH!) SO PLEASE DO NOT INSULT OUR INTELLIGENCE BY TRYING TO LOW-BALL US. SURELY YOU KNOW HOW MUCH ALL THIS STUFF COSTS………. THIS VEHICLE DOES HAVE PLENTY GOING FOR IT, SO PLEASE TRY TO BE REASONABLE AND BID ACCORDINGLY. THE RESERVE IS SET AT A PRETTY REASONABLE AMOUNT, WAY BELOW WHAT WE IN ALL ACTUALITY HAVE INVESTED INTO THIS NICE VEHICLE.
