Here we have a 1970 Volkswagen Convertible Beetle. We purchased this as a project about November 2011 for my wife. We have since gotten her another Bug. We were going to fix it up this summer but things have changed. We have moved from Chico CA to Boise ID. The car is still in Northern California at my in-law's house, and we need it sold. This Bug has been on California Non-Op since 1986. The title is CLEAR and NOT A SALVAGE! At some point it was in an accident, but the body work straightened out and was good enough for me but there is a bigger gap between the door and the back frame the usual. I did not do the work and it was already done before we purchased it. This is what I know has been done on it: New floor pans installed by previous owner. Sprayed new primer and paintCoated the pan with POR-15Replaced the transmission (fresh oil in tranny)Replaced ClutchNew hazard switchReplaced turn signal relayReplaced headlight dimmer relayThere are new rubber on many of the doors, windows and convertible frame.Back two quarter windows were replaced as they original two were missing. What needs to be done is finishing up the electrics and fine tuning the engine. I put in an EMPI shifter. The engine was rebuilt before we got it and is a dual port engine with a 30/31 carb. I drove it around and the engine runs and transmission is good. The car is pretty straight. It isn’t perfect, but in the right hands it can look pretty good. Paint job needs wet sanded. Top is there but I would probably replace it. (Top of convertible appears good just the vinyl part needs replaced from what I can tell. ) There is a crack in the windshield on the passenger side. Could leave it as it does not interfere with vision. Windows all need tweaked to get them straight to line up with convertible top. Includes rubber that came with the bug as well as other parts that came with the Bug. We require a $500.00 deposit through PayPal immediately. The balance can be paid through Paypal or cashier’s check before pick up, or if you are having it shipped to you, the entire balance must be received by us before the car is picked up. The reserve is $1500.00. This VW is not drivable and is being sold as a project. It must be towed or trailered by you within a week of the auction's close! The balance of the car must be paid for before pick up (my in-laws are only storing the car as a courtesy to us and are not involved in money or paperwork). Once it is picked up, we will send you the title and a bill of sale, so you can get it registered. I will give you the address of where the VW is being kept when you are ready to get it.
