Vehicle Detail

Rare 1983 Mercury Capri RS 5.0 5-spd T-top Black on Black Been in the family since I purchased it in 1990 and was in storage from 1991 -1993 while I served overseas. Then again from about 2003 until now.I am an out of work Vet and Christmas will suck for my wife and kids if I don't sell this....it's killing me. :( I am pretty much a fuss budget as you can see by the car, just don't have the time or money to mess with it, so my loss is your gain. Just installed new windshield $292.40 and NOS Turn Signal Function Switch Motor is all original with original 5.0 aluminum air cleaner Runs perfect and Strong 5-spd Trans shifts perfect I installed an 8.8 rear end in about 1993 from a low mileage 1986 Mercury Capri RS complete with Quad Shocks from a NOS (New Old Stock) kit from Ford. Currently has the Centerline Wheels that were on the car when I purchased it in 1991 but I do have the original set of TRX wheels to go with it. I removed the carpet due to mouse damage but it was old anyway. I have a bunch of parts to go with the car as well as long as the price goes high enough I will include them. If it goes for this steal of a deal starting price, please don't kick me when I'm down and expect all the goodies free. Passenger outside door handle is missing as it was broken and I removed it and the replacement is in the glove box along with the correct rivets to install. I have a new set of felts and screws for the T-tops in packages. The two photos of the trunk with the rubber plugs is the install of the quad shocks I did it correctly and it looks original. The plugs came with the NOS Kit. The Capri was "rust proofed" by Ford which is the blue plugs on body panels. It has held up extremely well over the years. The typical Sail panel spots just started in the past 3 years. Here are 3 short videos. The rattle is the exhaust pipe I never replaced it not sure if my brother did or not. Cat was removed when I bought it an it was bought new by a older gentleman that was 65 when I bought it. There is no rust on the body (except the sail panels as in the photos) even the hatch is rust free. It has never been in a accident but has some bumps on the front bumper probably from being in my dad's barn. There are no Major dents and as you can see from the photos as it is black. I have a set of new felts in the packages for the top. Motor starts right up just pump the gas once and hit the ignition. Tires have decent tread fronts are very good. . The interior is rough but that is the easy part to fix. The Body, engine & drivetrain condition more than make up for the easy to replace interior. You are getting one of my 2 babies! ;) I have a bunch more photos but Ebay only allows 24. Click the view all button to see all of the photos and the 3 videos of the engine on photobucket. If you want to hear it run live email me your phone number and I will go out and start it up.In a little over a month it will be 30 years old and it's already considered an antique at 25 years. This car is special to me, a lot of memories, so I hope you treat her well. On Nov-30-12 at 17:17:11 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to say that I also installed a new billet aluminum adjustable clutch quadrant, firewall adjuster and new clutch cable at the same time I installed the new windshield. On Dec-20-12 at 23:43:07 PST, seller added the following information: There were some questions that I am addressing. Can car be driven home? Well, if you live close by, yeah. Would I jump in it and try to drive it to California?? No. It's been sitting for a few years undriven, the brake boosters seem a bit off to me. Interior looks shot, is backseat all there? Well, that is 2 questions. The interior is pretty much shot, the carpet has been ripped out, but, the backseat IS there. As far as rust, there is only minor surface rust and they are shown in the photos. These cars usually rust out where the sail panels are and the photos clearly show NO RUST!! ;) This is the wife answering this :)) So, when he wakes up, I am sure he will clarify anything he feels I did not address correctly. He IS a total fuss budget and this is the BEST deal you will find on here for long long time! Merry Christmas! On Dec-21-12 at 13:36:32 PST, seller added the following information: This cars body is in terrific condition for its age yes there are some dings but no major dents requiring buckets of bondo. It is not a bondo buggy or rust bucket. I start it up and drive it around our block. The brake booster is the only thing I have found wrong. I have not looked at the vacuum hose which could be the problem instead of needing the booster replaced. It is a used classic car that runs and drives I can not say nothing will break but it has been well maintained since it has been in my family and was well documented when I purchased it in 1990. It is not a trailer queen and has been driven as a daily driver. It has lived in Missouri, Kansas, California, Colorado and Florida since 2011. Be sure and look at the photo bucket pics of the body and the video of the car running. It is the exhaust rattling but it is the original exhaust minus the cats (removed by original owner) and it is not all rusted out like most of these cars.
