Dakota Amazing Barn Find that runs great and drives! This 45 is a true time machine with estimated 80k-90k miles all spent in the dry Black Hills of South Dakota. Original paint, glass, interior, warn hubs, wheels, hubcaps, spare tire mount, locking fuel cap, owner’s manual, 3rd Owner, and only two previous owners were family members. Exterior is in amazing condition with original paint and glass. All of the grill, including emblems are original and great shape as well as the Land Cruiser emblems on the front sides. The lights are all original. The parking lights , front fender lights, and taillights are all in great shape. (Not sure if the headlights have been replaced). The rear tailgate and spare tire gate both work perfectly. Hood and Roof are free of dents and imperfections. The bed has seen some normal use but still only has scratches that have rusted and only a couple small dings in the bed that is in amazing original condition. Original front and rear bumpers and not sure about the hitch. All five wheels and hubcaps are original with some rust and dings but nice. Exterior Imperfections-Exterior does have all original paint with only two small dings and one small spot of rust in bed the size of a quarter on the entire vehicle. Dings include one on drivers side corner with easy reach from the inside, and another on the passenger front fender. (See Pics) Original drivers side mirror including glass, passenger side mirror may not be original. Exterior Under Body is in amazing damage free shape with only surface rust. It doesn’t appear this FJ has been used on anything but gravel roads. The running boards and body mounts are clean and original! NO dents or dings even underneath! Interior is also in unbelievable clean condition. The seat is original and has not one snag, tear, or imperfection while the backs and framing even look brand new and shine! The Floor tubs are clean up front and almost flawless behind the seats including original jack handles. The driver’s side under seat stowage is extra clean and never used by appearance. The gas tank is in perfect shape inside and out. Both driver and passenger doors, windows, window vents, floor vents, and windshield vent all open and close like new. The rear sliding windows are in perfect new condition and work smooth. Glove box has less than normal wear and tear leaving it also in great condition. Previous owner has added an auxiliary heater and it works. Engine is a late 60's 283 cu.in. Chevy small block that starts, runs and idles smoothly. Transmission is a factory manual floor shift model. Clutch works, however slips a bit but can be driven. Brakes are weak but can be pumped up enough to stop the FJ at slow speeds. FJ is now running with an electric fuel pump and I would change to a new mechanical which I will include with purchase.. Diff fluids have not been replaced. Instrument cluster will need some work. The high beam light, backlight, and amps gauge are working, however the Speedo needle is broken off. The oil pressure and temp gauges don’t work in the original cluster but aftermarket gauges were installed and do work. All exterior lights are original and working except the brake function of the taillights and the blinkers. Wipers blades need to be replaced. Wheels and hubcaps are original but tires are not road worthy from weather cracks. I think 6 bolt 15 inch Chevy 4x4 wheels will bolt right up to this 1964 Toyota FJ but not sure. This '64 FJ 45 is one of the nicest examples of an original non rusted and non repainted truck from this era probably anywhere in existance today. To anyone who would puchase this truck for a complete frame off restoration or just to drive, it will be a pleasure to work on and maintain as there is only very light surface rust on any of the under side suspension and chassis bolts or hardware because this truck spent it's entire life in the dry back woods climate of the Black Hills of South Dakota. For the record also, this was the one and only Toyota FJ 45 sold in the State of South Dakota in the year of 1964.
