Featured here today is a nice example of a 1982 VOLKSWAGEN VANAGON DIESEL WESTFALIA Camper which has been restored to almost like-new condition. This is a Full Camper, which means it sleeps 4, is equipped with a kitchenette consisting of a 2-burner propane stove, 3-way refrigerator, sink, a front and rear dining table, and plenty of storage cabinets all around. NEW Bulbs, Fuses and Relays as needed. 66. NEW European-Spec “1.9 TD” Rear Deck Badge. This is one serious CAMPMOBILE designed for serious camping! This is an un-molested California vehicle, so has NO rust issues. The body is fairly nice and straight, the doors shut nice and tight, the dashboard is in good shape, the carpeting, door panels are all in very decent shape considering this van is 30 years old! All lights, instruments, wipers, and horn work well. The new 1.9 liter Turbo-Diesel engine which has been tweaked for even better performance than stock, now puts out 85 HP partly due to its hydraulic lifters which never need adjusting, and much more powerful and torquey than the original anemic 48 HP 1.6 liter Normally Aspirated engine it replaced, and even though it is NOT broken in yet, having less than 2000 miles on it since being installed, allows this van to cruise the Interstate comfortably at 70 MPH all day long without even breaking a sweat! It goes up most hills without having to down-shift and is absolutely a pleasure to drive. The upgraded suspension and cosmetic upgrades greatly improve the looks and handling of this vehicle. This WESTFALIA steers straight, the 4-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly, it accelerates and stops well, and goes over bumps nice and quiet. It handles nice and tight. Overall, this is a very nice vehicle, and, with proper maintenance and regular oil changes should last forever. The body and interior of this WESTFALIA was pretty much stripped down to the bare body shell, the windows and everything else bolted onto the body as well as the interior and mechanicals were all removed, and and then it was re-painted the stock factory Ivory color w/custom Black-Out European-Style Accents around the windows and the interior, and all mechanicals were re-assembled back together, with custom factory Upgrades such as Late-Model Vanagon Fiberglass Bumpers, Spoiler/air-dam, Mirrors, Grille, Rectangular Dual Headlights, Rear Hatch with functioning Wiper/washer, Rear Windows w/vents, Suspension, Alloy Wheels, Padded Dash w/Map Light, Steering Wheel, Padded Sun-visors with Illuminated Vanity Mirror, etc. etc. All Camping equipment is in working order. The stove, and refrigerator work on propane. The vehicle comes with Spare Tire, Jack, Lug Wrench, Rear Bug Screen, Heavy-Duty Factory AC Power Cord etc. Almost everything on this vehicle which in our opinion needed repair or replacement has been discarded and replaced with NEW OEM parts. That includes all the items listed above and maybe a few more which we might have over-looked. This WESTFALIA represents excellent value for your money. The selling price reflects pretty much the sum of all the NEW parts and work put into it. All you have to do is to seriously look at the list of parts and upgrades above, and DO THE MATH!! Other restoration shops (YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE) sell similarly restored vehicles for 3 to 4 times more than what we are asking for this fine vehicle! Our huge inventory of parts and resources and in-house labor is the only reason that we are able to do all this and still sell these fine vehicles at an affordable price! There is NO way any private individual could put all these parts, time and work into a similar vehicle for less money than what we are asking for this one all fixed up and ready to go! It looks sharp and runs great, and turns heads everywhere! NOT to mention that Diesel engines get great fuel mileage, and, if you install a Bio-Diesel or WVO kit, you could be running this fine WESTFALIA for next to nothing! We just took this van on a little 1800-mile shakedown cruise to L.A, up the Pacific Coast to San Francisco, camped out at Pismo Beach, and back to NV, and it performed flawlessly. This is pretty much the total mileage put on to this van since the restoration. THIS WESTFALIA IS READY TO DRIVE ANYWHERE. ****NOTE**** FOLKS, ITS TRUE THERE ARE PLENTY OF SUCH VEHICLES OUT THERE IN THE $2000-$5000 RANGE. THIS DOES NOT HOWEVER, HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THEM.
