Vehicle Detail

About Me 1956 Ford F100 San Jose, CA 95110 Time in San Jose Vehicle Details Year: 1956 Make: Ford Model: F100 Mileage: 150,000 Transmission: Automatic Engine: 351W Exterior Color:Brown Interior Color: Black / White Title: Clear Description '56 F100 running project truck. This San Jose built truck had been modified in the early sixties by one of the previous owners. Lots of layers of multi-colored paint and a normal amount of body filler. It has some rust in the lower front floor/rocker areas, and around the battery tray. The bed is very straight compared to some other trucks of this age I've seen. I believe it spent most of it's life as a Hot Rod and not hauling heavy loads. At some point in the 70's it had a vinyl top which led to some rust through around the drip rails. The cab has filled seams and side vent. Dual antennas were installed, too. There is a BB mark, and a rock chip in the windshield (please see photos) and there is currently no door glass installed. From the information I've been able to gather it originally had a '58 Mercury engine and transmission swapped in. It now has a '71 351 Windsor with an automatic transmission. After sitting since the mid 80's the motor fired and still sounds good. The brakes and steering are still original, but someone added a set of Traction Masters to it a long time ago. It starts and will drive around the block, or up on a trailer, but it needs a complete restoration of the brakes, steering, and suspension to be roadworthy. The tail lights, brake lights, headlights and dash lights are in working order. It has electric wipers, which do work, and a cargo lamp that I don't think is original to '56. The wiring has been repaired and spliced back together many times over the years but is serviceable for now. The power pack for the original radio is still under the dash, but there is no radio installed right now. At the time the photos were taken, the ash tray was missing. I'm trying to locate one. The gauge panel had been made to cover a large hole cut in the dash (for a tape deck?) The seat appears to be from a 60's Oldsmobile and it has what looks like a T-Bird steering wheel. It is not currently registered, and is on California DMV Non-op status. If would make a fun, inexpensive Rat Rod Kustom driver, but it's not a good candidate to be a show truck. More detailed photos will follow very soon.
