                      1960 Triumph TR3A Roadster         For Restoration                           The Triumph TR3A is one of the sturdiest and most reliable of the early British Roadsters. Triumph sold them by the boatload and they did well in competition. The iconic styling and brilliant simplicity was irresistible then, and has contributed in modern times to the TR3A's extreme desirability as a collectible classic sports car.                                    This example is a 1960 model and is an excellent candidate for restoration. It is complete and together. It was driven in to this garage approximately 5 years ago and has been stored here since.                                    It is currently wearing the standard disc wheels as shown in the photos, but included with the car is this full set of the optional 60 spoke wire wheels with correct hubs and knockoffs. The TR3A is the simplest conversion to wire wheels-just bolt on the splined hubs. The tires are old and should be replaced. The wheels and hubs are in excellent condition. The knockoffs are decent used items.                                    The body on the car ids not perfect, but has suffered no major damage or rust. The panels line up well.                                          Door gaps are both nice. This is the driver's door.                                            And the passenger side.                                            The car has an original top frame, although the canvas is long gone.                                          The original sidecurtains are included with the car. They need to be restored also.                                          The engine turns over freely by hand. No attempt has been made to start the car since it was parked five years ago. The original color was white.                                            There is a small bit of rust in the corner of the trunk, seen here in the upper left of this photo. Some extra parts are also included.                                            The dash, gauges and steering wheel have survived very well. The seats are nice and solid.                                            The wheel is free of cracks or other damage and the correct curved-glass gauges are still nice.                                          It has likely spent the majority of it's life in a dry climate. There is minor rust, but none of it is serious. This is the right front underside view.                                      Here is the left rear underside.                                        This is the left front underside.                                    Here is a shot down the left side .                                    The front shroud is nice and straight.                                    Most of the chrome is decent. The overrider here is incorrect...                                    There is a small dent in the rear valance, seen here.                                                                                                                               These don't come up for sale often and they are quickly sold. It's an excellent starting point for a well deserved restoration. The car is in Placitas, New Mexico, the wire wheels and sidecurtains are in Costa Mesa, CA, where I am. I will ship them to the winning bidder free of charge immediately following payment in full for the car.
