Vehicle Detail

This 1929 Model A Ford was originally a 5 window coupe but someone cut the back off and stuffed a model A pickup bed into the cab up to the back of the seat. I bought it like this 30+ years ago. It ran real good then and still does, using no excessive amount of oil and having few if any drips. It starts easy and runs steadily. A few years ago I took it to a body shop and had them bend medal to close in the back of the cab. Then I had them shorten the model A pickup bed from the front and line up the fender mounts on the bed with the coupe fenders. Now I have a 5 window pickup with lots of storage behind the seat. I wanted a reliable driver so we: 1. removed the fuel tank, sent it to Renuzit, for cleaning and sealing. It has run for several years now with clean fuel. 2. We had the electrical system changed to 12vDC so that the lights all work with turn signals, brake lights etc. The ignition is still 6vDC via a voltage drop and it works good. 3. The water pump was changed to a new leakless type and it no longer drips my antifreeze/water. 4. The brakes are the original mechanical and the parking brake works too. 5. I installed 5 new 21" tires (the original size) and painted my wheels red. 6. The door glasses were originally plate glass and one broke when the door was slammed. I replaced these with safety glass along with new components for them to slide up and down on. I only have one window crank and I use it on both doors. The windshield, rear window and 2 small windows behind the doors have the original glass with some cool imperfections...the windshield is cracked in the right corner and will someday need to be replaced. The windshield does open mechanically. The wiper is there but does not work. The seat has been recovered at an upholstery shop with black naugahyde (leather like material). The doors and top inside have no upholstery. The top has been covered in sheet metal long before I bought it. Original cover was weatherproof cloth. The rain gutters are missing but I don't drive it in the rain (they are available from Model A parts suppliers. Ford has always been on a farm and the fenders and body have many dings and imperfections. I painted it with a brush and "satin black Rustolem paint", the wheels and tailgate are "glossy red". it looks ok for a driver. Not a show car though we have had it in the local Memorial Day parade several times. The grill shell is painted black just like Ford did them from the factory on pickups but I have a new chrome grill shell that will go with the car, if it sells for over $10,000. I have it licensed and insured and drive it to nearby towns regularly where it always draws smiles, cameras and questions. I enjoy driving it but I have 6 older cars and 3 modern ones and want to reduce my fleet. The opening bid of $9,500.00 is well below what I have in the car but maybe it will get bid up a little and I have enjoyed it. Now perhaps someone else will enjoy it. Purists that want it to look as it did when it left the factory will be disapointed but I remember when back in the 40s and 50s there were lots of cars modified into pickups because pickups were scarce. The winning bidder should pay $500 via Paypal within 24hrs of the end of bidding and pay the balance in cash when they pickup the car. I will deliver the car for free within 150 miles of Marshall, MI in my enclosed car trailer. Buyer must arrange their own shipping otherwise and not involve me in it. If you have questions contact Jack via cell phone 517.206.3206 or email via ebay. If you want a fun car that is easy to work on yourself...start bidding.
