I am selling my 2003 Boxster Tiptronic. The engine has 55,000 miles, and the body has 79,800 miles. I am the second owner. I purchased the car in 2005. No accidents. The recent engine replacement was done with manufacturing defects fixed (look in pictures for the receipt). The engine and transmission are a 10 out of 10. The body and interior look fantastic, beautiful color combination. New rear tires. Recent transmission service. About Engine: Research and you will discover all Porsches, 911's and Boxster's (except turbo's) between the years 1999 and 2004 have manufacturing flaws the manufacturer denies. For confirmation, Google --- Problems with Porsche intermediate shaft bearing. My perfectly maintained engine died at 73,000 miles. The intermediate shaft bearing went out without warning. The used replacement engine cost over $8,000. Before installing the replacement engine the shop corrected 2 well documented manufacturing defects: 1. A new ceramic intermediate shaft bearing (when this goes out and you need a new engine) 2. A new brass impeller water pump (when this goes out and the engine head cracks) No matter what used Porsche you decide to buy, these upgrades need to be done costing thousands of dollars. If not, your new Porsche could be a ticking time bomb. Considering the engine was replaced, and done correctly, this is the best Boxster for the money.
