Vehicle Detail
1971 Triumph Bonneville T120RV Super Rare Factory Homologation 5 Speed. One of 200 Built. Yes this is a true 1971, built in June 1971 with a factory 5 speed transmission. These rare bikes were a factory homologation exercise to certify the new 5 speed for racing. All other '71s came with the old 4 speed, except for this run of 200 bikes built in June. This example has just recently been pulled out of long term inside storage. No attempt has been made to start it, but it turns over nicely and shifts through all 5 gears. The gas tank and carbs were stored clean and dry, so there is no old gas to deal with. It is missing turn signals, center stand, seat latch and the grab rail, but otherwise complete. It is a matching numbers bike with a clear California title on a current non-op (no delinquent reg fees due...). The mileage shows 13,376 but is unknown if its original. Everything is together. The front of the wiring harness has been cut and should be rewired. The rest of the wiring is good original. Carbs and cables should be inspected prior to starting. Here are the numbers on the bike: Engine number... ...and matching frame number. Note the "V" designating the 5 speed. The prefix "GE" indicates the June 1971 production date. The side covers have been chromed. Tank paint is excellent with no dings or scratches. Tank badges appear to be New Old Stock Items as they are mint. Original Lucas headlight. The chrome up front is mostly excellent, with no pitting or rust. No loose or broken spokes. The front rim is extremely nice, with only minor blemishes. The front tire has lots of tread but has sidewall cracks. It is recommended that it be replaced before riding. The seat has excellent upholstery on it with no rips or tears. The rear wheel chrome is not as nice as the front. There is some surface rust and small pits in areas. The rear fender and chain guard have pitting and are not commensurate with the better condition of the rest of the bike. The chain is a little dry and needs to be lubed. The rear tire, an Avon SM MKII, has plenty of tread but also has sidewall cracking. Left foot peg has a slight upward bend. The bike sits right and has a super nice look. It would take little to get it up and alive and ready to enjoy. Here are some more shots of this rare bike: This is a great opportunity to grab a piece of history and own a nice example of a very rare and desirable vintage motorcycle. Only 200 of these were built and they are rarely offered for sale. If you are reading this then you most likely know what this is. Get it while you can....
