Here is a interesting 1964 Ford Galaxy 500XL 4DR Hardtop "FASTBACK". The car is all original including paint ,interior and powertrain,just like it came from the dealer . The car has 34,230 GUARANTEED ORIGINAL MILES FROM NEW. The car was sold by BABYLON FORD in WEST ISLIP ,NY. It was ordered and owned by the grandmother of the man I got the car from. She kept the car until she was in her 90s and was inherited by her grandson when she passed. I will tell you what I know about the car . The car hadsnt been on the road in over 20 years. Its been in storage in a garage at the previous owners house. It is now running and yard driving but will need brake and fuel supply work to be put on the road. The car starts instantly,runs cool,charges and yard drives well. The transmission seems ok. The old oil stickers indicate the car had 31,546 miles on it on 1/12 1983. Today it has 34,230. Ive been assured by the grandson that the mileage is correct .The car was has the 289 CI V8 ,with the Cruis-o-matic transmission.The axle ratio is 3.00:1 .With this equipement the car will make a great drive and get good gas milage. The car was built April 28,1964 .The color is "RAVEN BLACK" with a black deluxe interior. There were 16 GALAXY models to choose from in 1964 and this fastback model was the lowest production model with the exception to the Convertible 500 XL.The 500 XL was the deluxe model with standard plush bucket seats, console with floor shift,special XL trim,moldings and ornamentation. It came standard with a v-8 engine and full spinner wheel covers. The 1964 Fords are legendary for thier RACING HISTORY. The interior on this car is quite nice. The carpets and seats are very presentible. The rear seat looks like it was never used. The console and dash pad are perfect.. No cracks or fading from sun.The headliner has a hole in the rear that could be repaired. The sunvisors are coming apart from failed stiching. All the guages work,origianl FORD keys ,all the glass is Carlite with date codes,The radio works fine. The front seats are good with the exception of bad stitching on drivers back reat. The body on the car is VERY STRAIGHT and has its original paint. The tops of the front fenders are rusted at the very front. The bottoms of fenders have a small hole also . The doors and rockers are good and still have black paint on them . The bottoms of the quarter panels on both side need repair insde and out. These panels are avalable from many sources including DEARBORD CLASSICS. The hood and deck lid are both NICE.. The grill is killer nice as well all the trim and stainless. The trunk floor is good . The floors in this car are rock hard.no problems... The front bumper is nice and the rear bumper is SHOT!!I have been told by many Ford Galaxy owners that the rear bumpers were a problem from the start. I have located a excellant rear bumper and will pass along the info to the new owner. The underside of the car has the usual scale and road grime on any original car. The engine compartment is awsome...The inner fenders have original SHINEY black paint ,NO RUST ,and all the date numbers stamps can be easily read.I have all 4 XL hubcaps even though the car has only 3 on it. The car has power steering and standard brakes. The wipers work,all the interior door lights work,clock and glove box light. The tires are old and shot . The spare, jack and handle are in the trunk. All in all this a great ORIGINAL car that will make a great show car. I have a transferable NY regestration to transfer ownership of car with.
