About Me 1975 Pontiac Grand Le Mans San Jose, CA 95110 Time in San Jose Vehicle Details Year: 1975 Make: Pontiac Model: Grand Le Mans Mileage: 82,740 Transmission: Automatic Engine: 400 Exterior Color: White Interior Color: Black Title: Clear Description What is a Grand Le Mans anyway? The Grand Le Mans (renamed from Luxury Le Mans) series cars had a distinctive vertical bar grille with more chrome, revised nameplates and taillight lenses in the rear. Interiors were revised on top Grand Le Mans cars to include the distinctive wrap-around dashboard from the Grand Prix and Grand Am models with simulated African Crossfire Mahogany trim, a notch back bench seat with armrest. The top engine option for '75 is the 400 4brl. also available for the first time is Radial Tuned Suspension (both options are on this example) This Grand Le Mans was sold locally at Stevens Pontiac GMC in Los Gatos (all the pictured manuals and documentation is included in the sale), and has been in the South Bay area every since. No rust issues anywhere. One driver quality repaint in the original color, over a very nice body that has all the original sheet metal panels. The firewall tag indicates a white vinyl top, however sometime in it's history the vinyl top was removed and it was refinished with a black textured "spray on" fake vinyl top. It could just as easily by covered in vinyl again. The interior is all original, including the carpets. It’s never been restored or repaired. It still looks very nice with one of the few noticeable flaws being some small cracks in the vinyl dash pad. One of the previous owners added the aftermarket tachometer in the far left of the dash panel, but the factory rally gauges are present and in working order. The heater does function well, but the air condition system is missing some of the under hood parts needed to make it work. It does have an aftermarket AM/FM CD player installed in the dash, however it is not in working condition at this time. These '73 - '77 models offer excellent ride, comfort, and handling qualities, but lack some of the raw power of the late 60's GTO models. They offer pleasing, swoopy 70’s era styling in spite of the 5 mph. bumpers. Nice examples are a fraction of what some ‘64-’70 models bring. Standard features include power disc brakes, power steering, and for the first time in 1975, GM’s trouble free HEI ignition. All around, they are affordable, easy to find parts for, and are still fun to drive. A big plus for a California buyer is that being a ‘75, no smog inspection is necessary.
