Here is a rare FORD Stake body pickup truck. Its the same size as a pickup with a factory FORD SCRIPT platform body. The wheelbase is 122 inches.The truck came from the mid west and I am third owner from new. The truck came to be" BARN FRESH " not running or on te road since the mid 1960s. The engine had 3 stuck valves ,so I removed the heads,freed them up and reinstalled the heads after bead blasting them and installing new gaskets. The oil was changed,the distributor was removed and restored with new points,condensor and coil and synchronized. New water hoses and water pipes were installed as well spark plugs,fan belt,and exhaust system. A new battery was installed ,and the engine started instantly....It runs cool,has great oil pressure,the generator charges and it sounds great. It doesnt smoke or knock. The fuel system will need to be restored as Im running the engine off a coffee can with the fuel pump unhooked. The transmission is a 4 speed The brakes on the truck have not been serviced,the wheel cylinders will need to be rebuilt as well the master cylinder. The emergency brake does work. The clutch is smooth and works well. As for original features ,this truck is complete and un monkeyed with. Ill list here what I mean: Original body paint and striping,original spare tire and clamp,decent interior ,original and working Ford keys and starter switch /locking steering column,nice gauges and dash,engine to frame SPLASH PANS (almost always gone),all nice door handles, outside door lock(working),original outside drivers rear view door mirror,CHROME FRONT BUMPER!, heater,air cleaner,,spark plug wire conduits, and more. When I got the truck it still had the original radiator hoses and clamps.(not now).Wiring-The wiring harness is in poor condition..It will need to be replaced. Before I disconnected the lights to safeguard the truck from fire ,I checked the lights abd they all worked! Even the turn signals!! As for the rear platform,the deck wood was in poor condition. I removed the deck from the chassis ,removed the old oak bed boards,and had a local saw mill cut and plain me new WHITE OAK boards 1 1/4 inch thick after plaining,and cut the grooves in the top side for the original metal bed stipes to fit into. It was bolted back together with new hardware and reinstalled on the chassis after the chassis was cleaned and painted chassis black. (The chassis was just cleaned ,not blasted). I have all the stake rack irons but there is no wood on them as there were not with the truck and I bought them from a dealer. The tires are old,unmatched ,bald but hold air . They will need to be replaced to drive the truck. Glass- The windshield assembly was removed and the frame was beadblasted.(Its in excellant condition,no rust issues)New glass was installed and a new rubber weather stripe was bought,the side glass door windows go up and down fine and are original ,the rear glass is new and installed in new setting rubber. Body Tin. The tin on this truck is NICE with the exception of dents in the fenders . They can all easily be repaired . The doors open and close as they should. The grille and hood is nice. The dash ,is original with no extra holes. All in all this is a great old truck with a lot of the dirty ,hard work done. It starts right up with ease. The truck has NEVER been repainted .This is the original paint from the factory as well the cream striping on the body molding. The platform frame ,the rear frame and the running boards were painted but the body tin and fenders has not. Yes the paint is 73 years old. The second questio was on the racks. I have a full set of the irons ,but no wood. The buyer can make the racks new at any height or material. On Feb-11-12 at 12:36:38 PST, seller added the following information: I had a call from a man in Ohio that wanted to know if the "numbers match" I told him I didnt know,so Ive just gotten done reinstalling the floorboards . I found the same number as listed in the original description stamped on the bellhousing flange in front of the transmission. YES ITS A MATCHING # TRUCK.
