Featured here today is a nice example of a highly desirable and hard-to-find 1990 VOLKSWAGEN VANAGON CARAT WOLFSBURG EDITION “REDSTAR”. This is a very hard to find and very desirable model, and is pretty much the top of the line Vanagon with all the bells and whistles, and comes in rare special monochrome color package, and one of the rarest is the “TORNADO RED” color, which this particular van is. This vehicle has undergone a large amount of repairs and upgrades performed by us within the last 800 miles, which are as follows: 1. NEW Fuel, Air, and Oil Filters. 2. NEW Belts. 3. NEW Radiator Fan Switch. 4 . NEW Battery. 5. NEW Drive-Shafts. 6. NEW Tornado Red Paint. 7. NEW Limo Tint. 8. NEW Front Brakes. 9. NEW Rear Brakes. 9. NEW AM/FM CD Player w/Remote Control. 10. ALL Fluids drained out, flushed and replaced. 11. NEW Fuel lines. 12. NEW Coolant Hoses. 13. NEW Thermostat. 14. NEW Bosch Wiper Blades. 15. All Carpet freshly cleaned. 16. Automatic Transmission serviced w/NEW Filter & pan gasket. 17. European-Spec “CARAVELLE” Rear Deck-Lid Badge. 18. AC Serviced and upgraded to R-134A. 19. Upgraded brighter Instrument Cluster Bulbs. This is an un-molested California vehicle, so has NO rust issues. The body is fairly nice and straight, the doors shut nice and tight, the dashboard is in good shape, the carpeting, door panels are all in very decent shape considering this van is 21 years old! The seats are in good shape, the driver's seat has a couple of very tiny, very old cigarette burns, which are visible only if you look very closely. All lights, instruments, wipers, horn, and AC work well. The engine runs smooth and strong, there are no visible fluid leaks, and it does not make any abnormal sounds. The van is absolutely a pleasure to drive. This CARAT steers straight, the automatic transmission shifts smoothly, it accelerates and stops well, and goes over bumps nice and quiet. Overall, this is a very nice vehicle, and, with proper maintenance and regular oil changes should last a long time. The body of this CARAT was stripped bare, all glass, lights, bumpers, mirrors etc. were removed, and then it was re-painted the stock factory Tornado Red color. The windows were tinted and then re-installed, along with all the external body fittings. Almost everything on this vehicle which in our opinion needed repair or replacement has been discarded and replaced with NEW OEM parts. That includes all the items listed above and maybe a few more which we might have over-looked. This CARAT represents excellent value for your money. The selling price reflects pretty much the sum of all the NEW parts and work put into it. All you have to do is to seriously look at the list of parts and upgrades above, and DO THE MATH!! Other restoration shops (YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE) sell similarly restored vehicles for 3 to 4 times more than what we are asking for this fine vehicle! Our huge inventory of parts and resources and in-house labor is the only reason that we are able to do all this and still sell these fine vehicles at an affordable price! There is NO way any private individual could put all these parts, time and work into a similar vehicle for less money than what we are asking for this one all fixed up and ready to go!
