Here for your consideration is a original 1951 Buick 56C Super convertible. The car has been off the road for approx.45 years Ive been told. The previous owner was in the process of fixing the car up a long time ago,and for whatever reason never finished the job. Then it sat a long time in his garage. The car has the cleanest RUST FREE body that anyone could hope for. The underside still has original undercoating and paint from new. The floors are rock hard as well the trunk area. The car last ran 2 years ago when I got it and It ran well. The transmission shifted good and the brakes are in good working order. I put a battery in it just today and it will start on the bottle ,but quits when you quit primming it. The car is complete and very straight. The top fabric has been removed as it was in poor condition. The top frame is complete and folds as it should. The chrome work looks great for being 60 years old. There is some damage to the bottom of each door where a careless hauler dented the door/rocker area when it was shipped to me. The only good thing about the accident is that you can see how good the metal is. (still shinny where paint is broke) .The dash area looks good,as well under the hood.The car has a straight 8,automatic transmission,radio, heater ,wipers, POWER SEATS and POWER WINDOWS ,POWER TOP and DOOR LOCKS. On Sep-19-11 at 09:04:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Ive had a few questions about the history of the car. I have a notorized milage statement from Mr Hannaford,the previous owner ,that the car has been owned by himself since 1960. The car was last tagged on the road in 1965 .The reason for the different tires is when the car was removed from the garage the whitewalls on the right side would not blow up due to deteriation. I have the right side door mirror for the car and a second piece of chrome that looks like a trunk handle to aid in lifting the lid. The battery box hold down is also with the car. The paint on the car is crazed and flat ,but may shine up with a machine buffing. The brakes on the car work good and stop the car straight . All the glass is in the car with the proper chrome frames but they will not go up unless the car is running as they are electric/hydralic. I have pictures of the top UP on the car but cant add them to the auction as near as I can figure ,The top frame is in EXCELLANT condition including the rear bow with the proper dome light.The chrome on the ironsn is like the rest of the car,very presentible.The header latching mechanism is present and good condition. There door seals on the top frame are present ,but stiffer that a boars prick on Saturday night.....There is absolutely NO RUST in the top frame anywhere . Email me if you want pics of top UP. On Sep-24-11 at 09:50:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Update, after 2 hours of monkeying with the car ,I still can not start the car . It wants to start but I just cant make it go. I removed the distributor to advance the timing as the timing acted slow and now after replacing the dist. it doesnt fire at all. I am going to keep trying to straighten out the problem. The car will need to be moved on a truck or trailer as it isnt starting for me at this point. I will try and get a mechanic to look at it .I believe its old gas related and timing at this point. On Sep-24-11 at 13:08:26 PDT, seller added the following information: The car is running ......I hired a old time mechanic to look at the car and the problem was that some of the hydralic lifters had let themselves down after years of sitting . He adjusted them down so the rocker arms worked ,got the car running ,and re-adjusted the valves. The car runs pretty good but smoked from years of oil that was put in the cylinders for storage. Im going to run the car more to clear it out . At least the car now starts and runs. It has good oil pressure and the car was moving around the driveway on its own. The reserve has been met and the car will be sold to the highest bidder. !!
