Here is a "TRUE BARN FIND" I stopped on my way to work to check out a 1930s Mack fire engine pumper that was in the weeds behind this HUGE gamble roof hay barn. I got the owners name from a neighbor and gave him a call. Yes he would sel the pumper because the building has been condemed and I was to meet him ther Friday after work. I couldnt wait to check out the Mack ,which I did end up buying and before I left the gentleman asked me if I wa sinterested in any other vehicles I told "Sure, lets take a look"There were 3 more trucks and in the corner this red fastback.... I really couldnt believe what it was . It was a 1969 Ford Mach 1 Q code 428 Cobra Jet engined fastback , 4 speed gearbox. He told me that I could only get the Mustang if I bought the package... so I did. The man I dealt with was the second owner getting the car for his sons 16th birthday. That was 1974 and the car was used by his boy until 1985 and then retired as he moved away for his job. The car until this week hadnt turned a wheel since then..I brought it home and cleaned the interiolr, was the car inside and out, dumped the oil and installed new 15/30 oil and a battery out of my pickup. I jumped the switch as the keys had been lost. It turned over fine with compression.I next disconected the fuel pump so not to pump rotten gas in the engine ,connected a 1 gal can, poured a dose in the car and hit the switch. It threw fire out the carb about a foot high and came to life !!!!!!! It scared the shit right out of me it started so fast !!!! I was amazed!!!!!I tryed the clutch and gears /brakes and they all worked!!I only ran the car for a total of 1 minute and shut it off. All I wanted was to see if it ran and it does . It sounded great !!! No rattles or smoke. So here it is a rare old Mustang for auction The vin # is 9F02Q129116. The #s on the aluminum tag are as follows : From left to right..630 T5 34 151 53 RO The milage is a TRUE 54714.0 The previous owner said it is absolutely correct. The numbers on the top of the fender on left side are 11 1202 There is some other #s close to the edge but I couldnt quite read them. The car has the big 428 Cobra Jet engine,4 speed gear box, power steering, power DISK brakes, factory Tachometer, electric clock, and remote adjustible mirrors. It maay have other options but I wouldnt know what there are. The rear axle is a Positive he said. The shifter in the car is the original" HURST" unit . The woodgrain on the dash and glove box is all very nice. The car has a hood scoope with turn signals in the scoope.I have both Cobra Jet emblems as shown in the pics but one is not attached as the tit on the back side is gone. It was in the glove box. The body looks straight and has one repaint over the original candy apple red. (A darker red that whats on it now) The underside has scale on it and the undercoating is falling off everywhere. The floor pan on the drivers side is soft The rest of the floors feal good. There is some rust holes under the hood where the pinch welds are by the shock towers. There is some holes in the trunk behind the tailights. The body lines and door lines are straight and line up good. All the glass is good and its shaded. The interior is EXCELLANT for a car this old. The dash pad lookd good with one minor crack. The instruments are just perfect.. Look how clean and sharp they are.The headliner all in tack. The carpets even look good as they were covered all these years with some red and black shag house carpet.(Sounds like he did some shagging in his stang....)Look over the pics and ask questions! This acr is going to need a restoration , but what a great car to start with. It has the right equipement, the right color and has honest history. The car hasnt been monkeyed with.It hasnt been wrecked or raced other than what a 16 year old kid did on a Saturday afternoon.....smile..... Email me at mwest729@aol.com or call Mike at 585 738 1541 . The car is 30 miles south Of Rochester NY . I have a man here in town that will deliver the car almost anywhere if he doesnt ahve to cross water...smile. See my feedback ,Im a good seller Thank You.On May-30-11 at 05:24:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that this car has exhaust headers on it that Ive been told by a Ford man are original to the car. I cant prove or disprove this.Alos I said that the car had disc brakes ....the disc brakes are only on the front. It has drums on the rear. The rear seat folds down to access the trunk from the inside. That would of been a good way to sneak a friend into the drive in theator in the old days...smile. Also the spare wheel in the trunk does not have the beauty ring that snaps on.The glass is tinted in the car. Also I had a question about some reinforcement plates on the shock towers .Yes it has them on either side of the engine close to the manifolds . These brackets are factory installed . Ask any questions .....Thank you Mike On May-30-11 at 18:03:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I had several emails that the picture of the door tag was fuzzy I reread it and it says from left to right as follows: 63c t5 3a 151 53 r6 I hope this helpsOn May-31-11 at 11:28:55 PDT, seller added the following information: The reserve on the car has been met. The car will sell to the high bidder at the end of the auction and not before in fairness to all the good people Ive spoken with in the last 3 days. The car can sit here as long as needed while the buyer figures out shipping. Ive had the serial # decoded and this has turned out to be quite a special matching #s car. They dont come around very often like this, Ive been told.
