VERY HIGH CARFAX 84 SCORE This is my 1997 BMW 740iL. I have owned it for three years and when I bought it in 2008 it had an amazing 46,000 original miles on it. This was an 11 year old car. I am the second owner (not counting the dealer). The previous owners bought it new and lived in Manhattan on the Upper East Side. It was garaged its entire time (when not in use) and presumably only used on weekends. The car looks fantastic. The previous owner and my family are all non-smokers. Now it has 98,700 on it. I am a sales rep so it has been driven mainly on the interstate. So now it is a 14 year old car with a still-low 98,700 miles on it. New this car cost over $60,000, today they are over $80,000. People always mistake this for an almost new car. It is completely rust free. It has the original owner’s manual and paper work. Original two factory keys . Even the original factory intro audio tape. The original tool set. Very Cold Air conditioning. The 5 speed automatic transmission shifts perfectly. Of course, the title is clear and ready to register. I’ve just (this month) installed new tires and it has a brand new Bosch Battery. It starts and drives like a new car. I’ve had a complete brake job done at 66,000 miles with rotors. I change the oil with synthetic oil only. Of course, this is “L” version (as in 740iL) with a huge amount of room in the back. In these photos the front seats are all of the way back. As a driver I have never had to pull my seat forward for anyone. Don’t mistake this with standard 740i No body issues. The Paint looks great. There will be some scratches and imperfections here and there but very minor for a 14 year old car and I only mention them to be as accurate as I can. Completely rust free. I don’t know if it has even seen snow or salt. From the mileage the previous owners only used it on weekends. I have a 4WD Suburban and so when it snows I use that. I have never taken this out in the snow or salt. WHAT DOESN’T WORK. I just haven’t gotten around to fixing there items. The Emergency brake cable needs to be reconnected. The rear windows do not go down (not sure what’s wrong). The lights behind the odometer and trip gauge are burned out. Little things are: Front Cup holder broken (back one is fine), Bezel around ashtray is cracked and loose. The electric seat switch works fine but the plastic know broke off. From Wikipedia Features of the E38 7 Series included high-pressure headlight washers, auto-leveling xenon HID headlamps, power moonroof, a sound system with 14 speakers and four subwoofers as well as 6-disc CD changer, onboard satellite navigation and rain-sensing wipers. Other features included an automatic climate control system with separate controls for the driver and passenger, a three-position memory system for the driver’s seat, safety-belt height, new steering wheel and outside mirrors. Front-seat side airbags and a Head Protection System (HPS) were also standard. The car featured an all-leather interior with burl walnut trim. When the E38 was phased out in 2001 to make way for the new E65, sales of E38s increased noticeably in the car's final months of production as people moved to buy the car before it was replaced.. Also contributing to the E38's continued popularity was its appearance in several films such as Tomorrow Never Dies, The Transporter, and The Game. The E38 740i featured in the BMW Film Ambush, even though it was the only featured car in the series to be replaced the following year. Please check my 100% eBay feedback with over 1000 items sold.
