Vehicle Detail

1971 Mustang Mach 1 Matching #’s Original Car 62k Original Miles All Stock 351 Cleveland 4V C6 Automatic A/C (not hooked up) VIN # 1F05M108142 Exterior: This is a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 Sportsroof in clolor code 3 which is Bright Red. The body shows well wearing the original paint throughout the car. This is a rust free California/Oregon car that has been garaged most of its life. Trouble areas like the trunk floor pan and front fender/rear quarter are stout and solid in this car. The body is straight with no dents or known previous repairs. It looks as if the car was equipped with hood pins at one point but the previous owner removed them and filled the holes. This is an original car and therefore does show some nicks, chips, and fading. This would be a restorer’s dream. All chrome and molding is there with the exception of the right rear quarter panel trim piece. The bumpers and chrome are all original and show some pitting. The car is currently outfitted with chrome Cragar wheels which was a popular upgrade for the era but also comes with its original wheels. The windshield, rear window, and door glass are all good although they all need new weather stripping. Overall the exterior of this car is as straight and solid as one can ask for out of an original. Interior: The interior of this Mach 1 is as original as the exterior. It is outfitted with the White Comfortweave (Mach 1) coded 5W. It also features the Mach 1 Sports Interior Group, Select-Shift Cruise-O-Matic, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Sport Deck Folding Rear Seat, SelectAire Air Conditioning, Deluxe Belts, Warning Light, and Tinted Glass. This car was produced with almost $1000 worth of options while the base car only cost $2800. The interior shows it’s age and needs some tender loving care but overall everything is solid and works. The passenger side window knob is missing, the amp gauge isn’t functioning, and the factory radio has been replaced with an aftermarket FM unit. The dash is uncracked and in great condition along with the door panels and carpet. The seats do have some wears and tears but are in good condition overall. Engine/Extras: This Mach 1 was built with the 351 Cleveland 4V V8 coded M in the VIN. Horsepower was rated at 285 from the factory and with only 62k original miles this engine has plenty of life left in it. This version of the 351 Cleveland was built with larger intake and exhaust valves, smaller combustion chambers, hotter hydraulic cam, Autolite carb, and 10.7:1 compression ratio resulting in a stout small block. This Mach 1 is cold blooded but once running it sounds and runs as it should. The choke isn’t hooked up so that will certainly help. The regular maintenance has been done at the recommended intervals and everything looks as it should. The battery was replaced by the prior owner and is smaller than the original but it starts the car just fine. Again, this is a matching numbers all original car and all the serial numbers reflect that. Putting the power to the ground is a C6 Automatic Transmission coded U which shifts smooth and firm as it should. This Mach 1 is equipped with a 3.00:1 ratio rear gear coded 6 and keeps RPM’s low at highway cruising speeds. Driving Impression: This 1971 Mach 1 runs and drives as it should with no abnormal noises or functions. It has the rattles and noises associated with a 40 year old original car but all could be solved with a bit of time. The car is responsive, shifts firmly, handles wonderfully, and stops great thanks to the optioned front Power Disk Brakes. This car is ready to drive and enjoy as is or would make a wonderful candidate for a full restoration. I would not hesitate jumping in this car right now and driving across country. Terms: This car is sold as is with no expressed or implied warranty. Seller is responsible for all tasks and costs related to shipping. Payment is due within 48 hours of the close of auction. I will accept wire transfers only.On Apr-08-11 at 11:27:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve Price Lowered 4/8/2011!!! This reserve is extremely reasonable!! Let's sell this car!
