Vehicle Detail
I've decided to sell my daily driver S10. It's been a great truck for me, as I had been looking for a decent-looking & running truck for some time. It had to be clean, well-maintained, with little-to-no-rust. I found it after months of looking. Now, I need to sell as I've bought a larger boat and need a bigger truck with greater towing power. Check out the pics and see if you agree that there is almost no rust on this body! I'd put the body at a 9.5 out of 10, and the interior at an 8.5 out of 10. There is one tiny area about the size of my thumb on one side where some rust is just beginning to form. Other than that, it's totally rust-free, and one of the reasons I bought it in the first place. It is dark red.... some would call it maroon. It runs quiet and smoothly, with a decent exhaust system. Tires are above-average. Interior is clean, but does have some wear...c'mon, the truck is 13 years old. And there is about a 16" crack in the windshield on the driver side. It had this crack when I bought it, but it is close to the edge and does not obstruct vision. The crack hardly shows up in pictures, and I will be happy to email the pictures to anyone wishing to see them. I decided that if the crack grew any or began to spread out, that I would take care of it then. But, it hasn't, so I haven't. And I decided not to fix it before selling it because I am not sure if the windshield replacement warranty would transfer to the new owner. If I were to fix it with a warranty, THEN sold it, and later it began to crack on you.... well, wouldn't you want a warranty in such a case? That's what I thought. The truck's been fairly-well maintained over its' life. Since I have owned it, I had the radiator replaced, cooling system flushed and new coolant added, new spark plugs, a newer battery from one of my other cars, regular oil changes, transmission fluid & filter change and washed & waxed regularly. There's probably more to add to that list that I can't think of. What I've mentioned is what immediately comes to mind. The engine compartment is as clean as you will find on a truck. The "Check Engine" light does seem to flicker from time to time. I managed to zip in to AutoZone when the light was on to have the diagnostic codes pulled. The codes were reading that the O2 sensor was possibly bad and that the EGR valve was possibly bad. I had a mechanic check both and both were deemed to be functioning properly, so I more or less just left it at that and ignored it. The light comes on for a few days, I unscrew the gas cap a few times, drive it for a few days and the light goes off until the next month. It is what it is. The tires are decent. I had the tires rotated myself, to put the better two tires on the back drive wheels. The truck has no leaks, runs strong and drives straight down the highway without pulling to one side or the other. The truck has about 133,500 miles. I drive it daily, so it will likely have more as time progresses. The passenger side door mirror is cracked. I bought a replacement off ebay, but haven't gotten to switching them out yet. I will either do it myself in the next couple days, weather permitting, or I'll include the newer, unbroken one with the truck and let the new owner decide what to do with it. I rarely even use the passenger side mirror, and didn't think much more about it until now. The truck has working AC, and I just had that serviced during the summer of 2010. The truck has a clean title. The truck scores an impressive 79 on the Experian Auto Check scale, almost at the top of the range of other similar 98 S10's. While it is noted that there was slight to moderate damage to the truck at some time years ago, according to Experian, the only thing I can see that could remotely be indicative of any damage is that the truck seems to have a different tailgate. It appears that the tailgate has had a spray-on liner application, whereas the rest of the bed has no such spray-on liner. In any case, whatever damage the truck sustained in any previous event was not serious enough to warrant mention on the title, as the title is clean. It's also worth mentioning that the truck is covered by ebay's Vehicle Protection Program plan. So, the truck is what it is. It looks spectacular- better than most other S10's I've seen, most of which seem to have the all-too-typical rusting at the bottom rear cab corners and over the rear tires. It drives fairly well. It's only a 4 cylinder, so let's be real: it doesn't ride as well as my Lincoln or Lexus. It's a truck, and does well for an S10. Having said that it is a truck, the previous owner has USED it as a truck. The bed has a normal, expected amount of wear & tear from hauling all the stuff an S10 would have hauled around over the past decade. I am a detail person, and have tried to be upfront with everything that I know about the truck thus far. I think it's a very well-maintained truck. I have it priced right at about where kbb says it's worth. I took in to consideration the cracked windshield, but I also took in to consideration the brand spanking new radiator as well as all the other work I had had done to it recently. I think it was far better that I took care of the "hidden" things on the truck, such as the radiator, because I could live with a small crack in a windshield. On the other hand, I'd be mighty upset if the old original radiator failed on me on the next 97 degree summer day and caused my engine to self-destruct. I've added plenty of pictures, as well as a short YouTube video to allow you to see the truck in greater detail, plus hear it run. Click in the center of the box, below to check out the video. The truck is tagged and anyone is welcome to swing by for a look and a test drive. Bring your drivers' license... I am going to ask to see it. One more note about test drivers: I am going to ask test drivers to sign a statement that he or she will be held responsible for any damages to the truck during the time it is under his or her control. I would hope that a test driver would be just as careful with MY truck as he would with his own vehicle. This is solely to protect me, my truck, my investment, my insurance and potentially my credit score. If you are test driving my truck and you run a red light and total it, you are responsible. Same thing applies to speeding tickets, running red lights or anything else that occurs while a test driver is driving this truck. One of my neighbors had a SERIOUS problem last year with a person whom she let test drive her car. Something similar is not going to happen to me. Re-listed due to a spammer which used the BIN option, thus ending the auction. When you've been on ebay as long as I have, you learn to tell which "buyers" are spam. Ebay has since confirmed to me that the winning "bidder" indeed was spam, and to ignore his "purchase". It happens. I just canceled the sale and re-listed. Sorry for any confusion. I will only terminate the listing early if the truck sells locally. Kbb.com has the truck valued at about $2985. I am asking a little less due to the cracked windshield.
