ABOUT THIS MOTORCYCLE: 1971 Triumph T120RV Bonneville The Fall riding season in the South is here again! This bike is ready to ride! This is a great, mostly original vintage Triumph 650 parallel twin. It only has about 11,700 original miles on the clock. It is clean and has been well maintained. It is in great mechanical condition with very good original paint. The bike is ready for many more miles of enjoyment while delivering over 45 MPG. Features include: · Rare low production bike, only 200 five-speed, T120RVs were produced in 1971 · Engine rebuilt with low miles · New Hagon shocks · New carb to air cleaner boots · New drive chain · New ignition switch · New petcock · Tank cleaned, de-rusted, and sealed with POR 15 tank sealer · Boyer electronic ignition · Excellent Avon and Metzler tires · New Plugs · Recent change of all oil (primary, gearbox, and engine) · Bike is not an oil leaker · Dunstall type mufflers This Triumph is the twin carb Bonneville model. It is a five-speed. It is kick-start only. The 650 cc unit Triumph motors tend to be very reliable if properly maintained. Triumph Bonnevilles are a lot of fun to ride. As long as you do not want to go much over 70 MPH for extended periods, they are quite pleasant. I think this bike would easily pull taller gearing. The bike is located in Birmingham, Alabama. This bike will be on display and can be picked up at Barber’s Vintage Motorcycle Festival, October 8th through the 10th; if that works for the winner. Please, serious inquiries only. Call Mike, 205-218-7424. THE GOOD! This Bonneville runs, rides, sounds, and looks great. It is the very rare 1971 Bonneville T120RV, a 650cc with a five-speed transmission. Only 200 of these bikes were produced for homologation purposes. The bike starts with a kick or two if “The Drill” is followed. This is an easy bike to ride, with plenty of torque, light handling, light clutch, and an easy shifting transmission. There are just a very few miles on a total engine rebuild. Engine produces good power and sounds nice and tight. The Avon front and Metzler rear tires look like new. The suspension is tight and the bike rides and handles very well for a bike of this vintage. The bike appears to be very original; other than items like the new battery, tires, mufflers, early taillight, and Boyer ignition system (all to the good actually). The cases and aluminum bits polish up very nicely. The bike has great sounding “Dunstall” style reproduction mufflers. The paint on this bike is very good overall. Pictures should tell the story here. Everything works other than what is noted below. The bike will come with a notarized Bill of Sale from the owner. Alabama does not title vehicles 1974 and below. We can provide a registration and tag receipt if necessary. Check with your DMV if you are concerned about this. THE BAD! There are some minor paint defects here and there as one might expect on a 40 year old motorcycle. The fork seals seep a bit. There is some surface rust on the original Dunlop rims. There is no horn. The turn signals have been removed; I thought they were ugly on these bikes anyway. The taillight is from a much earlier model Triumph; again the original was homely. Carbs overflow on initial tickling. Once engine is running, this stops. This is all I know is wrong with the bike.
