Vehicle Detail

OK This is a cool backyard find and then some Since it runs and drives! This is my buddies 1976 Ford F-250 Explorer Super Cab Camper Special Edition Pickup truck he got from his Pop. Wow, that a mouth full. So what we really have here is a VERY Good example of an un-restored Truck. His pop bought it in 79 From a local Ford dealer that had it on trade in. Since then, he used it to take the family on camping trips every summer. His pop left the truck to him and it was last inspected in 2001. His pop kept METICULOUS records and receipts for EVERYTHING done to the truck and TONS of OEM new and used parts in the rear bed but we will get to that in a bit. This is an OEM 1976 Ford F-250 Special edition Truck. Features include: Ford Explorer Special Trim Package and badges SUPER CAB and man is it super, lots of room back there. Camper Special includes many special extras like OEM trailer mirrors, heavy duty suspension, extra long wheel base, utility compartments and more Massive 460 Ci V-8 torque monger motor to pull a house, in the bed or on wheels that is. Dual Batteries for heavy duty deep cycling needs of a camper or trailer. Working OEM AC!!!!! Wow! NEW crate 460 motor with under 20K since install! Rebuilt C6 heavy duty transmission with added trans cooler! OEM cruise control. Super Cab Super Extra large cab with bench seat and rear slider window. Lots of extra parts, manuals, and receipts for parts and work. Super nice clean Glasstite cap with lights and cab to cap gasket. OEM Radio included but not installed. Kenwood tape deck radio installed. Plywood and matching carpet in the super clean and dry bed. Ok, now for the Extra cool stuff! Tons of OEM new and some used parts. When the motor was replaced it was replaced with a full dressed unit so extra parts that were good were removed as spares. Also, when pops traveled he kept a few boxes of NEW spare parts that include: Two fuel pumps, one used, one new AC compressor! AC Clutch Ignition control box Power steering pump. Distributor NEW Ford Carb rebuild kit NEW aftermarket tailgate painted to match "pop would not mount it since it did not say FORD on it!" Lots more, guages, wires, and more. Factory Radio! That's a big $ item! Class 2 Hitch! Trailer brake controller plumbed into the master brake cylinder. Full set of service manuals, elect, mech, chasies wire books, more! Oh yeah, the truck STARTS, RUNS AND DRIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH YEAH! Two pumps of the pedal and it fires right up! Under the hood is tight and clean! Some of the issues I can see are: Old paint, but in great shape with white detail stripes on the side and hood. Some body work looks to have been done in the door jambs and maybe the cargo box built into the side of the bed. Maybe around the wheel wells too, but I am no body or paint expert. The cruise control does not seem to be working. Other than that, for it's age, the normal frame surface rust underneath but all in all it was very well maintained and it's hard to see much it would need to be back on the road. The interior is in great shape for the age. No torn up seat corners or anything. All in all this is a great find. The truck is not inspected since 2001, has a clean title in hand, and has not been on the road. It may make a road trip fine but may not since it has not been inspected or road driven in about 10 years. Anyway, check out the pictures, let me know if you want to come see it, and happy bidding. This would make a great tow vehicle for a classic show car / trailer rig. What a cool way to show off your show car by pulling it in with a classic Ford pulling rig! This truck in Just outside of Allentown Pa just off Rt 222.
