Vehicle Detail

1965 Studebaker Wagonaire 48,375 original miles! Form meets Function in this Powerful Beauty. Designed by Brooks Stevens, the Wagonaire is known for it's unique styling and particularly for the sliding rear roof which locks into an open position for carrying oversized items or sitting at the drive-in! In 1965, Studebaker moved production to Canada and all Studebaker came equipped with Chevy engines. Only 1,824 Wagonaires were built in 1965. I have been to several Studebaker shows and this is by far the cleanest and most original I have seen. This station wagon has all original Chevy parts, including a 238 V-8 engine, making stock repairs a breeze! This car was purchased about 9 years ago in Pennsylvania from a former car museum owner and driven across country to its current home in Southern California. Consistently well-cared for. All interior and exterior are original. The wagon has always been in my garage. Mechanical needs have always been met and include a rebuilt transmission, a new clutch, new bushings, new shocks, springs re-arched, and a new battery. There is some oil leakage in the front, which my mechanic says is normal. This is a “three on the tree” column mounted shifter. The car runs beautifully! Photos show details and include the paint around the gas cover where there is crazing, the area under the front floor mats to show there is no rust, and the hinges of the back door which do have some slight rusting. I am happy to provide any other specific pictures. Feel free to call or email with any questions: 323-605-8764On May-31-10 at 22:37:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Just added two photos showing original registration in Pennsylvania, second registration also in PA, all original owner's manuals (intact and like new), sales brochure, and a letter from Studebaker dated April, 1966 explaining that parts and service would still be available even though the manufacture of vehicles was discontinuing. I could only add one photo, the other can be seen at http://s1037.photobucket.com/albums/a451/dibsydoodle/1965%20Stude/ (you may need to cut and paste the address). Also need to correct that the engine is a Chevy 283, not 238. Thanks!
