MOTOR TREND: In the Cayman S, Porsche has conceived and delivered a superb driving instrument. It combines precision, balance, gusto, style, and what we’re sure will be impressive test-track performance. It’s silly fun to drive; a hot-looking partner you’ll enjoy on your first date and never tire of. The powerplant engine is placed low and just over the driver’s right shoulder for the same amidships weight balance enjoyed by the world’s most sophisticated race cars. The engine-as-pendulum issue never needs fixing–because it doesn’t exist. The large hatch opens high to reveal a two-tiered luggage compartment; add this 9.1 cubic feet to the 5.25 cubic feet in the front trunk, and you’ve got a sports car that’s good for more than just a weekend’s worth, although soft luggage is recommended to get the most into it. Porsche claims the Cayman S will lap the North circuit of the Nuerburgring in eight minutes, 20 seconds (running 19-inchers and with Sports Chrono), just a few seconds slower than the Carrera. I have had this car for about two years and absolutely love it. It is pretty much in the same excellent condition since then. The only blemish is when I got to close to the hitch on my 4-runner and put a slight impression dent on the front bumper (see pic). The wheels are the 19" oversize alloys (Porsche). The rear tires are almost new (2,500 miles) and the front have probably another 10,000 on them. They all are the ZR19 Sport. The seats are heated as well as the mirrors. This of course is a mid-engine auto so there is a trunk in the front and the rear. The original owner's manual is included as well as the original stereo and performance books. I had the oil changed about 1,200 miles ago, the spark plugs replaced, and the O2 sensors checked by the reputable BMW dealership in town that does all my auto work. He noticed what he thought was a faint lifter noise but said he has seen it on a large portion of 06-08 Caymans. I also replaced the brake light bulbs. The oil capacity is almost 9 quarts as it is used for many purposes. Also when I bought it I saw a minor accident from 2010 on the CarFax report, so I asked the dealer to have a frame inspection done. The car was shipped to a frame inspector in FL. I have attached the report that I received showing 0% damage. I can concur as I have had no issues ever. I dropped it off at an upstate BMW/Porsche/ Audi service and had an inspection done. A few things are trivial but I have included a scan of their inspection. I hate to sell it but I need a 4-door. It is fairly tough to sell it in a small town so I am listing it nationally. I have both original keys. I also have a clear, unbranded title. Winning bidder will be required to pay a non-refundable $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction end, and the remainder within three business days of auction close.. I suggest FEDEX or wire transfer. The last List, with options, had it at $26,200 retail, and $21,800 - $23,600 private party, but am willing to sell it to the highest bidder. * I found out how tricky it is selling cars so I just have a few guidelines.
