Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1999 Honda Civic DX sedan. The Good:Despite being the car's third engine, it is out of another Civic which was maintained by a friend using only Honda parts and fluids. I JUST replaced the timing belt and water pump and replaced a leaky O-ring at the distributor. Again, only Honda parts and fluids used. Was averaging 30.02mpg with MAX MPG being 37.08 on highway trips and MIN MPG being 21.84 on mountain road driving. I added an oil filter relocation kit and oil cooler. This makes oil changes very quick and easy and keeps oil out of your arm pit. Not to mention the engine stays nice and cool. Mobil1 Synthetic Oil has been used since engine replacement.I have meticulously recorded all maintenance and fuel fill-ups since replacing the engine back in April of 2016. I will make sure to pass these along to the next owner. For fill-ups I have only been using Top-Tier gas with the exception of the odd-ball gas station fill ups whilst on road trips. The guys running inspection shops could not believe it when they inspected my car and it didnt smoke, have any dash lights on and still idled like a new Honda. The transmission is the original to the car with its matching VIN tag.The Bad:Speaking about the transmission... It's JUST GONE OUT! It gave out on the very same day I had spent replacing the water-pump and timing belt, so you can imagine how depressing that was. As mentioned previously though, the transmission is the original to the car with over 335k. It's done well. Since I took ownership of the car, I've made sure to replace ATF every 33k with Honda ATF only. But even with that care, time and distance has taken its toll. The Ugly:As some of you Honda enthusiasts know, Honda paint is terrible, and this Civic is no exception. Sun burnt roof, trunk lid, etc. Typical Honda stuff. Hood latch is broken so you need some pliers to tug on the release cable. Rear Driver's side door handle is broken and door can only be open from inside. I have the new handle to replace it with though. The honest history:To my knowledge, the only fender bender the car has been involved in was when the previous owner slid under the frame at the rear of a cargo trailer. It crunched up the hood and bent a little piece of the core-support. No other frame damage, no airbag deployment. Just a new hood needed, which it received. Too many items to list here that have been replaced but one that you'll notice upon seeing the car is that the rear struts were replaced a few months ago, so the rear looks a little high but those will eventually settle to a "normal" height.YOU WILL NEED TO TOW IT SINCE IT DOESN'T DRIVE.
