Vehicle Detail
This is the perfect first car for a new driver. It is safe as well as fun and easy to drive! Here's the key: The engine is about 59,000 miles newer than the rest of the powertrain! The timing chains from the factory are notorious for 2005 and 2006 CTS's, and this car's original timing chains failed. Thus, I bought a newer engine and gave it new timing chains before it was installed in the vehicle. Essentially, the engine has about 104,500 miles with new timing chains! Many other parts that are subject to heavy wear have also been replaced. In many ways, this is very much a newer car than its odometer suggests! Some of the work has been warranty. Some of it was insurance claims. Most of it was done at Cadillac dealerships (Suburban in Lansing and Jim Winter in Jackson). This car is up to date on all periodic maintenance and has had many parts replaced in recent years. Here are the highlights: • Much of the wiring & battery & engine-control unit: 164,000 miles• Brakes & control arms & ball joints: 163,961• Most-recent oil change: 163,830• Catalytic converter: 163,281• Engine replacement w/ timing chains: 154,783• Goodyear Assurance Fuel-Max All-Season tires: 131,317 I have receipts for each transaction. I bought this car in 2010 and am a bit of a car nut, taking incredible care of my vehicles, doing much of the maintenance work myself. If a car needs a bigger job, I usually take it to a dealership. We need to free up some space in our driveway, so I'm selling it. Otherwise, I would have no problem driving it for a few more years. This car gets 28-30 mpg on the freeway and 18-22 mpg in city traffic. Its 2.8L, 6-cylinder engine gives a great mix of on-demand power and fuel economy. The dual-control transmission was flushed around 100,000 miles and won't require another flush until 200,000 miles. The leather interior is clean but shows some wear. The instrument panel is in excellent condition, and the dual-zone climate control is fantastic. On the hottest and coldest days, the car will heat or cool to your desired temperature before you're 2 miles down the road! There are eight airbags in this vehicle, including six total for the driver and front passenger and two in the back. This is a fairly spacious vehicle. It comfortably seats four with plenty of leg room, and a fifth person can fit in with no problem. The trunk is large and hides a spare tire with Cadillac's original roadside kit, including a jack and tire iron. It also has a grocery net, and its back seat, which includes a fold-down arm rest and ski hole, folds down to fit large items. The tires have tens of thousands of miles of tread remaining, and there is a lock for the lugnuts (key included). The original, 6-speaker sound system is in great shape, and it has available XM. The only thing that could use some work is the sunroom motor, which intermittently works. However, when it opens, it always closes. If you have any questions, let me know!
